loretta didn’t know the first thing about creating a youtube video. she’d seen enough of it though, like any person living in the 21st century. but being with em was easy enough, considering how much fun the two had together. they were on a fast track to best friend territory, and it seemed with each day they spent, going on about everything and nothing, they were becoming closer and closer. em was a comforting presence, which was something of a rarity in loretta’s life. ❝ okay so... where do we even start? ❞ lo asked, adjusting her long black hair around her shoulders. ❝ i’ve never done this before! i’m scared. ❞
how could anyone be bored in a place like this? a place that was so different from anywhere in the world that it had decided to become its own country? new vegas was the city where everything happened, the good, the bad, and the horribly ugly. so what was loretta’s problem? she’d finished her last dance of the night and parted ways with the horny, and yet still somewhat classy drunkards that frequented the club at ace, and here she was, all dressed up (which, to loretta, only meant dressed at all) and nowhere to go. she slowly paced away from the club entrance and through the casino, her heels from the last dance of the night clicking quietly on the pristine floors of ace. maybe i could order chinese and take a searing bath, she thought, still feeling the glitter from earlier tonight stuck to her skin beneath her dress. that’s depressing, she thought through a sigh. out of the casino, she came across the bar and spotted lucky, who looked like he always did when he was dealing with drunks who didn’t know how to cut themselves off. with a somewhat relieved smile, loretta strolled up to the bar and leaned her elbows across the top, trying to take some of her weight off her aching feet. ❝ excuse me, garçon , have you the time? ❞ she began, her tone mocking the likes of the disgustingly rich and entitled patrons of the club she had the misfortune of meeting from time to time. ❝ and perhaps an artisanal tequila? i am very rich and know french. ❞

( CHARLIE COX, CISMALE, HE/HIM, TWENTY-NINE) ✧·˚. — ( BENJAMIN MURPHY), a ( DEFENSE ATTORNEY) has been in vegas for ( TWENTY YEARS ) and has made quite the name for themselves. they are known to be ( QUICK-WITTED and EMPATHETIC ) but don’t get it twisted, they can just as easily be ( STUBBORN and BRAZEN ). they’re so much more than that, though.

BENJAMIN MURPHY was born in new jersey. his mother passed away shortly after giving birth, and he was left with his piece of shit father to raise him. as far as he knows, he’s an only child, but his pops probably had some other kids floatin around the east coast. that wouldn’t surprise benny.
his pops was a BIG gambler and a crook. he almost lost benny to a relative a few times, due to his neglect for his son, but he worked his way around keeping ben from going into foster care, simply so he could write him off as a dependent on his taxes. what a shit. additionally, he once lost the shitty apartment the both of them were living in to someone in a poker game. that one incidence, in fact, is what brought the both of them to vegas. with nowhere else to go, benny’s dad thought this was the perfect opportunity for the both of them to head west to vegas, where he could REALLY win big. at just nine years old and to much of his dismay, benny just went along with him.
benny was always a smart kid! top of his class. in addition to going to school, he was able to start working early as a bus boy and a bellhop in order to bring in extra (and most) money to support himself and his son of a bitch dad.
my boy benny had an okay time in vegas, though he grew to resent the place that occupied most of his father’s time, attention, and money. he had no extra money to pack up and leave, so he just stayed in vegas through high school, all the while his father was trying (and failing) to win a cool mil or two via various games of chance all around the strip.
it wasn’t until the very DAY ben graduated high school that his father’s endless gambling finally paid off. instead of attending his own son’s graduation, ol’ mr. murphy was chillin at the slot machines when he hit a lucky streak and ACTUALLY won $500,000, all at once. the excitement and irony was just too much for benny’s dad though, and he dropped dead of a heart attack just minutes after he won.
that day was a mix of emotions for benny. he was upset his father wasn’t at his fucking graduation, but that redeemed itself when he found out that the money his dad won, the money that KILLED ol’ mr. murphy, would all be rewarded to benny.
benny knew this sum wouldn’t be enough to support him forever, but he knew it could definitely get him a head start. because he was an exceptional student, he earned himself a scholarship at stanford that would cover a few of the biggest expenses that come with attending an ivy league school out of state. with the blessing of the rest of the money though, he figured he should put it to good use and go to law school. he wanted to make a life for himself that was completely above board, unlike his dad.
he returned to vegas shortly after he graduated law school, simply because it was the only place that really felt like home. he may have resented it before, but it was his own choices that brought him back. and he could live with that.
now! my son opened up his own firm not far from the strip. he worked for a prestigious firm previously, but really couldn’t shake the desire to be his own boss and make something of himself BY himself. or at least, mostly by himself.
as far as his personality goes... my guy is on the straight and narrow. he has a real passion for justice and people. he’s not tempted by crooked dealings, (at least for now) as he saw those kinds of things greatly contribute to his father’s downfall. he’s kinda charming and a little bit of a smart ass! the whole lawyer thing... it works for him. he’s got a soft spot for people! rather than corporations. he’s totally friendly unless you give him a reason to hate you. kinda not afraid of anything.
