&. BIOGRAPHY
the simmon's family comes from a long line of hunter, and because of this aliyah is not blind to the existence of what goes bump in the night and day.
aliyah is a very outspoken, domineering, and confident spirit, always has been. by nature, she is also very competitive. growing up she found a love for sport, but instead of dance or softball like all of her friends, she went the route of gymnastics, karate, and track and field. her father supported her choices because he knew they would help her as she joined him and the rest of the family as hunters.
with exception of her twin, being loved by her family, while a plus, has never been important to aliyah, gaining the pride and acceptance from her parents have always been a priority for her, if she were to ever let them down she wouldn't know how to handle disappointing them. this became even more seeded into her mentality when she saw the way her parents treated her older sister.
since then, she's stayed as mobile as possible, constantly going where the hunter trail takes her.
ultimate daddy's little girl, and very protective over her brother.
a few years ago, while out on an assignment for her father, her best friend had joined her, and while she was fighting off a vampire of her own, aliyah failed to protect them which led to her best friend being attacked by a vampire. this night haunts her, and fuels her fight against the supernatural.
aliyah has been out of the city on a job, when she heard about her sister's return she made her way back to new orleans the moment she finished up the job.
Good morning, sweetie. How was the social? And, listen, if you hate it, you do not have to go back. I just really appreciate you trying. No, actually, it wasn’t that bad. It actually made me realize something. What?
"did i miss your text?" aliyah verbally wondered out loud after walking into her living room only to unexpectedly find her twin brother sitting on her couch. she'd given him a key in case of emergencies to quell his nerves but there didn't appear to be any kind of emergency going on.
she had needed some time to think, and destress in order to help her think, there were two things that were the solution to that. one was training, the other was a shopping spree. the later had won, and so here she was with a coffee in one hand and many shopping bags in the other. it was a nice afternoon, and the spree had done what it was meant to do. just as she exited the shopping mall, her phone started to go off. "oh, i have to get that-- here hold this for me?" before the question had even left her lips, bags were being handed off to the person next to her. the huntress pulled her phone out of her pocket only to be met with disappointment, it was not who she wanted it to be. "damn, oh well. thanks for that." the huntress shoved her phone back into her pocket, grinning up at the stranger with her bags, taking them back.
Nova sighed as she sat in the Balcony in her dress. She was stuck there until the end of the week for reasons that even elluded her. While she understood her responisbilites, even she felt this was a bit much. The heiress presumed her standing until she saw a person from down below, maybe this can be an oppurtunity to escape.
"Yoohoo." Nova said at the person. "Do you mind giving a lady some help?"
"babe, how did you manage getting stuck up there?" aliyah asked both amused and concerned for her friend. her eyes scanned their surroundings only to look back up to the raven haired beauty above her. "i'd love to help, but short of you jumping and me catching you, there's not much i can do."
One of the few people that hadn't judged her for what she had done, had stuck beside her through everything. The secrets, the lies, the sacrifices- Aliyah had time and time again shown that she could trust her and even now as Everleigh sat on the couch in the huntress's apartment, nursing a glass of pinot, she wanted to give that trust back to Aliyah. "I can't really say that I'm surprised," Everleigh admits. "No, wait, I take that back. All the shit he gave me for what I was doing- he left the OEA and now suddenly he's working with them again, running an entire department and he's on the council as their rep? It's an actual joke, if you ask me. That man can't commit to anything. Clearly not his marriages, not the OEA, not his law degree- It's only a matter of time until Laine realizes that just because he's her brother, doesn't mean she's got his loyalty."
she'd been trying to hold her chin up high, strengthen her weakening facade. she thought she was doing a pretty good job too. aliyah had dedicated her life to the cause, to hunting and training with her family and then the oea once the simmons family joined them. twenty-eight years of loyalty, even after she could have faltered. even after her sister betraying them for a life with werewolves, even after her best friend; her twin did the same for practically strangers, she had stayed loyal when a way out to a simpler life was handed to her time and time again. she'd let it go when she approached laine about being the head for the department of malevolent enforcement and was told that dex vane had already been offered the role, but to find out that she was being slighted by him once again? it felt like an oversight, all this loyalty and for what?
with a glass of wine in one hand, she listened as everleigh went on, it wasn't really helping in the way it would have just hours before. every word about the oea rep for the council just burned that pit in her even further, making room for a fire that was sure to burn bright before it burned out. the huntress was gazing out of the window, nearly lost in her own thoughts when the last words spoken by her friend pulled her out of her reverie. "brother? full stop-- did you just say that dex is laine's brother?" aliyah blinked as she turned to give the blonde her full attention, her brows furrowing that the news.
Spinning on her heals, aliyah let out a squeal of happiness as quietly as she could. The glares she ignored told her she'd failed, but she didn't care. She had her best friend back. "Miss you? Are you kidding, babe, I missed you the most!" The huntress pulled the blonde in for a tight embrace.
Now Juri wasn't the type to get exhausted easily. But the bartending was getting to him. Not because he thought it was beneath him, but because bartending while deaf was probably equal to juggling while blind, it's not impossible but it's a hard task. Juri did manage it though. As he turned around he placed the sticky notes to the newest customer.
"Just write what you would like to order and we'll see what we can do. ^^ Heads up we are out of bourbon for the next hour or so. "
"Out of bourbon? That's unexceptable." A playful gasp left her lips. The huntress reached out to push the post it back towards him. She had a couple deaf trainees, and with practice has actually gotten pretty good.
