Midterm Review
i hope this midterm isn't as hard as some of these review problems have been
Entire writeup of Chapter 1A and 2A with answers to problems.
Chapter 2A Problem
A) The position of the bicycle at 1.00 minute is 35 meters.
B) The position of the bicycle at 3.50 minutes is 35 meters.
C) Displacement= 35m - 35m --> 0m
D) The bicycle is not moving because there is no position change.
Chapter 2A Formulas
Time interval- Change in Time= Final Time - Initial Time
Displacement- Change in Distance= Final Distance - Initial Distance
Chapter 2A Definitions
Position-separation between the object and the origin
Distance-how far the object is from the origin
Magnitude-the size
Chapter 1A Problem
P=m/v
m=25.6 g
v=(1.2cm)(1.2cm)(1.2cm)-->1.7cm^3
P= 25.6g/1.73cm^3
P= 14.8g/cm^3
Chapter 1A Formulas
Linear Relationship- y-mx+b
Slope- m=(change in y)/(change in x)
Chapter 1A Definitions
Physics-the most basic of sciences
Dimensional Analysis-the use of unites to check work
Significant Figures-valid digits in a measurement
Scientific Method-use of question, research, hypothesis, experiment, data, and conclusion to formulate new knowledge

i used these for my test lol

Change of state.
To boil or melt, heat must be added. To condense or freeze, heat must be removed
Heat of fusion- amount of energy needed to melt 1 kg of a solid. Heat of vaporization is the amount of energy needed to vaporize 1 kg of a liquid.
Heat of fusion is represented by Q=mHe and Heat of Vaporization is represented by Q=mHv
Thanks…these notes have all been very helpful!
very easy

Test was pretty easy - not as hard as “open-book” tests usually are
Open Book Test
thank god we were allowed to use our notes and the textbook otherwise i don't think i would have done as good at all.
1.5.11
Thermal Energy is conserved in an isolated (closed) system
Calorimetry is process by which we measure specific heat
E1+E2=Constant ==> E1=-E2
Qin=Qout
1.3.11
Thermal Energy
molecules present in gas have Potential and Kinetic Energy
total energy of the molecules = Thermal Energy
average energy per molecule related to temperature of the gas
Temperature not dependent on number of particles in object
Conduction
Transfer of heat ONLY HOT TO COLD!!!!
Temperature scales: Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin
***Q=mCT***
Q=heat absorbed
m=mass
C=specific heat capacity
T=change in temperature
how could any student look foward to a test?
