đłď¸âđ Ruth Ellis (1899 - 2000) was the daughter of former slaves. She came out as a lesbian when she was 16-years-old to the complete acceptance of her family. In 1937, Ruth and her longtime partner moved to Detroit from their hometown of Springfield, Illinois for the promise of higher wages. There, she became the first woman in Michigan to run her own printing business. She printed fliers, posters, and stationary in the front room of her home, which also quickly became a hotspot for Black LGBTQ social life. Before long, Ruth was helping those who came around in any way she could, including by paying for college tuitions. After the Stonewall uprising, 70-year-old Ruth began giving speeches in support of gay and lesbian rights all across the country. She remained an activist for the rest of her long life and even spent her 100th birthday leading the San Francisco Dyke March. At the time of her death at 101, she was recognized as the oldest out lesbian in the US. She is the subject of the documentary "Living With Pride: Ruth C. Ellis @ 100" and is the namesake of the Ruth Ellis Center, a shelter for homeless and at-risk LGBTQ youth in Detroit.
Celebrate Ruth Ellis.

US Holocaust Museumâs âearly warning signs of fascismâ sign is going viral
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum wants to make sure that fascism doesnât make a comeback.Â
AÂ Twitter user snapped a shot of a poster from somewhere inside the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C.Â
Judging by dollar sign symbol in the lower right hand corner, the sign looks to be a poster for sale.Â
The poster is derived from a 2003 article detailing the potential warning signs of an incoming fascist regime. Read more.
âControlled mass mediaâ is getting closer with Donald throwing a fit about Twitter fact-checking him.
Or the fact that Trump is trying desperately to created his own State Run media, if not through Fox, through OAN and Sinclair Broadcast Group
The Micdotcom url will not take you to the 2003 article â Fascism Anyoneâ by Laurence Britt, which inspired the poster. That can be found here: https://secularhumanism.org/2003/03/fascism-anyone/ It should be noted that this is an article that was written specifically to show how bad George Bush was. (which may serve as a reminder that, no, itâs not just Trump. This whole thing has been cooking in the Republican Party and US society for at least 2 decades now just as it is cooking in the EU.)
Few historians actually use this list, as it isnât particularly well grounded in historic research and it lacks some other very common early warning signs of fascism such as an obsession with the restoration of an imagined glorious past (MAGA, basically), a mixing of official political power with street violence against minorities and opponents (check) and making all minorities and opponents into one imagined super-opponent (so BLM = Antifa = fake news = George Soros = culturalmarxism, & itâs a matter of time before they openly name that imagined super-opponent as âthe jewsâ). But if you did update it with a bit more historical research, the conclusion people are drawing from it wouldnât change much.
here's a carrd to send pre written emails to ask for justice for several of the victims of police brutality and racism
Heads up, everyone should be writing their letters, itâs easy to set up a filter and send pre-written emails directly to the trash bin or a spam folder, and itâs even more likely to happen with a hostile force like the police.
Better worded by twitter user jackcalifano
This is critical!!!

For my final post in this series I decided that it would be appropriate to post the portraits of ten men and women who were interned in Manzanar. Ten men and women like you and me who were removed from their homes, in the United States, and placed in a camp, in the United States.
If this series interested you please message me or use the lot numbers placed under the photographers name to find many more images from the camps.
Thank you.
