“ Whatever you say . “ She replies dismissively , taking a moment to crouch over and choose the right size pair of heels . She took the box towards the counter and set them down , taking out her wallet .

“ Oh , by the way . . How’s the band search going for you ? “ the savvy porcupine questioned as she searched for the right amount of bills to give the cashier .

“Oh? Uh, it’s alright.” Lance shrugs as he answers. Truth be told, it hadn't been easy getting musically talented animals to join his workshop band, since most of them knew of Ash and what he ‘did.’

“I mean, there’s a hedgehog who’s willing to join, so...one. And they can play violin.” There’s a pause before Lance continues. “W-we’ll get more, and then we can get a recording studio...and start our own label. The whole world will get to hear our songs.”

“ Oh shush . You know we’re the same height . “ She huffed , leaning in and giving him a stern look .

Of course the seriousness was light and friendly . The porcupine wanted to hold herself back , because to be honest - she felt a little selfish . She looked down at Lance’s worn out shoes and pressed her mouth into a thin line .

“ Do you want anything ? I don’t see you shop for yourself . Like … Ever ? “

Lance simply shrugs at her question because honestly, he didn’t need new shoes. Well, he didn’t want new shoes. 

“Babe, I don’t need a pare of shoes for everyday of the week. My sneakers are just fine. Let’s just get yours ‘n go home.”

LOOK! I KNOW LANCE WAS A JERK BUT

When he turns to see Ash didn’t follow him on the train, his guitar case is in his right paw

When he presses up against the glass BOTH HIS HANDS ARE UP AGAINST IT

LANCE FREAKING DROPPED HIS GUITAR CASE AND RAN TOWARDS THE DOOR FOR ASH!!!!!!!

Lance and fidgeting 

When he was in school, Lance had extreme trouble when focusing in class. He’d fiddle with anything he could get his hands on, a pencil to twirl or a pen to click on and off regularly. He’d stare out windows or start writing a song in the middle of class. He just couldn’t focus on what was being taught unless it interested him. This got him into trouble with several of his teachers (except music ofc) and would often lead into him getting into detention (Ash would sit there with him).

“ Oh , I see those being sold every where around the city … Poor kiddos are wasting money on this . I think I remember that they used to be really , really cheap . “

Becky knew that Lance had one, or two of them . She listened to him ramble about how they worked , and she genuinely was interested in them . She tossed her empty coffee cup in the trash can with ease, and lit up as they neared towards the shoe store .

“ Oooh ! Lance ! Baby , these are sooo cute ! “ She mused over the pairs of heels - simple , not too stripy , and the material was great - sitting by the display window .

Lance turned his attention away from the vender and back to his girlfriend. He was glad at least she understood the stupidness of it all. When she reached the glass he made his way over to look at the shoes with her. 

“Hey, those look nice.” he says genuinely. “And with them you can finally be taller than me.” Lance laughed, giving her a little nudge.
