I did the Sigma 6k! This is the third virtual run (or in my case, walk) that I have done, and I’m planning to do the Forgotten 5k on my next days off. I joined the Whovian Running club and the Hogwarts Running club this year. Virtual races can be done at any time, which is good for the shiftworker’s schedule. They mean no people. No awkward stares and judgement which have stopped me from doing The Run for the Cure. You get outside, and have an end goal. The only problem is, I can’t really say much about them to my “real life” people. You see, walking 5-6k is easy for them. My Mom (at nearly 60 years old) runs 5k most mornings. My grandpa ran marathons well into his 70s, and still does shorter races. Many of my people are fit. I am not. I am REALLY not. I cannot tell them that a 6k walk was really hard. I got blisters. Chafing happened. My legs are sore the day after. My hips and feet are sore the day after. I cannot tell them, but I need to make them big for myself. I did it! I did a 6k to support people who make awesome wheelchair costumes to brighten people’s days.

With the help of my sister, the old treadmill is at the dump. Unfortunately, as much as I would like one, a new treadmill is not in the budget right now. I have an stationary bike, so I guess I’ll use it.

I had a patient, first with one below knee amp, them with second. His goal when he was discharged earlier this year, was to be able to march in the Remembrance Day Parade. One of my coworkers saw him marching today. This is why I love being a rehab nurse. This makes it worth it.

So, my treadmill never started again, so now it is in pieces. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it to the dump after I work this weekend (or even better, my Mom and sister will take it on Sunday). I think that I have picked out a new one online, but I don’t want to have both taking up space at the same time.

Nights like last night, I really wish that I had nursing buddies. People who really get it. People who understand what it feels like when a patient unexpectedly dies. The second guessing that you do. The hindsight what ifs. What if my night shift brain is making me forget things. The fear in knowing that you will have to live through it again under the questioning of you boss (no matter how nice she is).

I don’t have people like that. I have coworkers, but not any who I see outside of work. We are friendly, we joke around, we say hi if we see each other in the comunity, but we don’t meet up for coffee, or hang out.

My mom and sister are teachers, and I see what they have. They understand each other in a way that they could never understand me. They try. They hug me and let me cry. They feel bad for me, and let me vent, but it just isn’t the same.

Can you imagine what it must have been like growing up for George and Fred. Notice how I said George and Fred because we always call them ‘Fred and George’ as if they were one person - just like their mum. Their own family couldn’t tell them apart. They didn’t have perfect grades like Percy. They weren’t as cool as Bill or Charlie. They weren’t the youngest male like Ron and they obviously weren’t female like Ginny. So they created a niche for themselves - The Pranksters. I like to thing that George and Fred thought of Harry as their little brother too way before Harry had any romantic interest in Ginny.

Harry was also the one who invested in their niche fully, rather than being annoyed by it, he celebrated them for it.  That’s why they gave him the Marauders Map and then he gave them the Triwizard gold:

It’s why they agreed to his request Ron get some new dress robes out of it. They’re clever not just funny ‘they always get really good marks’ but as OP says they’re not as good as Percy, Bill or Charlie. They helped Ron get him out of the Dursleys:
