Fan Fiction Recommendations

Purpose:

To become an appreciation blog for fan-fiction writers (mostly the new, underrated ones but also some well-known fan-fiction writers!!!) who use their talents to create beautiful stories inspired by the amazing people they stan;

To reblog works that the admin highly recommends, along with a detailed review of what she loved and appreciated about the story/ies she read; and

To provide a platform where writers can feel that their works are not ignored or simply for temporary enjoyment; rather, each work is a masterpiece that deserves to be savored.

Disclaimers:

My reviews and recommendations will be based solely on my personal opinions. If you have different thoughts about a particular review, that’s totally cool, too! 😊

Also, I will only be reviewing SVT fanfic writings for now because it’s the part of the fanfic world where I myself am participating actively and where I feel like my opinions are more solid and grounded. But do send me a message if you want me to read and react on a non-SVT story that you loved or wrote!!! 😊

I will also feature one story per week that I truly loved, so stay tuned for that, too!

thank you so so so so so much for complimenting my descriptions and writing style! it’s one my strongest points yet weakest at the same time hehe i personally enjoy long and elaborate descriptions but i understand it may be too redundant or wordy for a lot of ppl ;;; a lot of the people i’ve talked to on here also mentioned my descriptions as one of the most striking points of my writing and i!! appreciate it so much c:

i actually am still actively writing for svt! just on another blog that is still anonymous (it does not have my name on it anywhere LOL) to this day, nor i do rlly intend on sharing that it’s mine anytime soon! i’m enjoying just writing what i want to :) i do still check my notifications for my writing blog bc ppl still come by and read my works which fills me with immense joy sigh

YES! I loved your descriptions v much! I am glad that fellow readers have commented on it! Very much my cup of tea, your story is! I am so glad I dived into your blog and found this masterpiece. Also, this is NOT A PASSÈ PIECE OF WRITING! It's really good! @svt-kismet​, there is something about the way you write feels poetic (yes! this is the word!) and dreamlike. Writing this review now, I think I have gone back to this drabble about three to four times already since I first saw it around September. I never read much, but when I do, I always make sure to tell the writer either through DMs or through reblogs how much I enjoyed their story. So, this one is my way of expressing how much I enjoyed your story so much! I know that this is just a drabble, but it’s really one of my favorites!

As a reader, I tend to be picky and the fact that I reblogged this really meant that I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for writing this! 

Okay, so here are my thoughts about “honey’! 

The descriptions are so beautiful! They flow so eloquently. The language is not complicated and any reader would immediately understand it, but the rhythm of how they were placed is what makes them unique. The rhythm (lilt, cadence? I don’t know how to put it into better words) of your writing makes me feel tranquil inside, as though someone were reading to me and the scene plays out before my eyes. Details are so well-placed and my imagination paints the images clearly! Favorite descriptions:

the checkered picnic blanket beneath your bodies provide plush comfort and protect both of you from the scratchy grass. 

the sun isn’t blaring down as harshly on you anymore, painting you with a warm yellow glow that jihoon swears makes you look like an angel.

according to jihoon, the large tree providing cover for you was about two hundred years old, planting its roots firmly into this very ground you lay on long before you were even born.

every line that tried to capture how Jihoon’s fingers would trace your skin or your hair or to press down a mark at a certain part in the book.

Jihoon’s characterization here is spot-on. There are certain fics where I could easily replace the lead member/character with another member/character because I feel like the characterization could do more work on making the role feel specifically tailored for that member/character. This one, though, I have no trouble identifying and imagining as Jihoon! From the way that he told the story of the tree, to those details about his fingers (Jihoon really does have lovely fingers, but the poke was what did me in because YES, I do think he is the type who would do that playfully with his s/o) and to how he would nag a bit when he found out that you hadn’t been listening to him as he reads to you...these made me think, “uh-huh, this is definitely Jihoon!” Imagining the member and no one else as fit for that role is important for me and you delivered this well!!! So good!

The vibe is so beautiful. Summer, grass, golden glow of the sun, an extremely talented man telling you about the history of the tree you are lying underneath on and reading to you from a book he had painstakingly tried to find??? Amara, the scenes are just too beautiful! If this is how a drabble from you is like, I can only imagine how beautiful your longer stories would be. 

This is my cup of tea. I love this story so much and I don’t think I will ever get tired of reading it when I revisit and click on that “Keep Reading” line. The way it was so poetically delivered using uncomplicated language and how the scenes and descriptions beautifully flow, yes, this is my favorite. Deserves more reblogs! More tranquil-like fics like these, please! <3

P.S. I also LOVE your URL! Kismet is one of my favorite words! The meaning is so beautiful and for a writer to use it is poignant and poetic. Ugh, I’ve used the word ‘poetic’ here so many times but this is definitely the vibe that I felt when I dived into your blog and into this story. You’re a good writer, Amara! Karol/@secndlife, words still can't express how my heart broke because of this story.

When I first read this, I immediately sent you a message telling how much I got immersed in it. This fic reminds me of a line from Taylor Swift's song called, 'hoax'. The line, in particular, is this:

"Don't want no other shade of blue but you; no other sadness in the world would do."

This fic is my exact shade of blue, the only sadness that would do. To be honest, I have read a lot of sad stories and have written my share of it during the past few month, but this is still, by far, my favorite now that I have had the chance to read it again. And I don't think I will get over how heartbroken this story has made me feel. Really. 😭 I remember telling you why this hit me so hard through DMs and you know why this one hurt a lot personally.

I bit the bullet when I read this, but the pain was worth it because this was written so beautifully! 😭

Here are the things that I loved about this "You Keep Yours, I'll Keep Mine":

The forthright delivery of each line perfectly delivered the right amount of angst, and more. Even though the words used are lovely and are beautifully placed, they could slice through the reader like a dagger. The lines are straightforwardly honest, and we all know that honesty could both be revealing and brutal when used a certain way. The way that the writer described the how's and why's about the reader's actions and feelings about Jeonghan here is both revealing (because it shows how much the reader is in love and is invested in Jeonghan) and brutal (e.g. doesn't gloss over the ugly truths about how much the reader is trying hard to keep Jeonghan).

The story is one that I think many readers could relate to. Karol, you have perfectly captured the words that describe the pain and pleasure that people experience when they are involved in an uncertain relationship.

The word plays in this story is countless and I love every one of them. I wanted to select a few lines that I really liked, but I ended up copying paragraphs instead of lines, so I gave up. Almost all of the lines are good, and all of them hit me harder than I thought they would. In the end, I chose to reserve a part of my new journal for a sort of moodboard of quotes from this story (not a joke; I do this with stories I love LOL). Just so I won't forget how good this story was. (😭)

Jeonghan here reminds me of the last guy I was in love with. I'm really okay now, but this story reminded me about the reasons why what we had was really bound to crash and burn to ashes in the end.

The reader here was exactly who I was from 2015-2018 and early 2019, so...whoever said that fics are just fics? Nope. They aren't. They sometimes reveal things that do not come from the writers; sometimes, they reveal things about the readers, ourselves, too. Just like this one. LOL this fic prompted me to DM you, Karol, because I was at a state of disbelief. Someone had written my story. Thank you for writing it, unknowingly. It reminds me of how much better I am right now compared to who I was until recently.

I don't think I have ever thanked anyone for the pain they caused me, so, congratulations, Karol! You're the first person I will thank for causing me pain. 😂 Thank you for writing this masterpiece. Thank you for writing this so beautifully. 😭
