I really felt relaxed while sketching this, I think I’m beginning to get why people love drawing nonstop? It really calms all my thoughts and also allows me to just exist and make mistakes without worrying too much about them. It isn’t meant to, nor does it need to be good. It just needs to help me express how I’m feeling, however goofy, happy, angry or sad that may be at the time. Honestly it feels so good to just DO something without quantifying an end result to achieve : )

Ik I do disparage my own drawing a lot in my other posts but it’s an insecurity I’m trying to slowly overcome because the quality really isn’t as important as the process of drawing and what I get out of the act of actually doing my lil’ sketches.

Also side note, the pure GENDER that Mizu in Blue Eye Samurai makes me feel is insane, I love her and this show so so much.

Don’t ask me what’s going on with his thumb or his hair, but some improvements are every so slowly being made compared to the rough drawings I made of Spike last night. It doesn’t exactly look like Spike on the left either, but it does look like somewhat of a human face unlike the other ones so I will take what I can get 🤷‍♀️

I aspire to one day draw stuff this god damn cool and magical. SO GOOD OMG

I came across this painting by Rebecca Green and I loved it so much I really wanted to try my best to draw it. I loved trying to draw with such whimsy, I had a blast with this one even if it’s not all that great. It’s also worth noting that this is the fastest I’ve completed a sketch so far and I’m probably the most proud of this one compared to my other “serious” sketch attempts lol.

Ok so I managed to get the 3rd point perspective of Johnny Cash looking down and also I’m proud of the outlines that I drew of the basic shapes in the photo as I am very inexperienced with perspective drawing. It’s drawing in the details that is really tripping me up as is v evident from how bad photos 2 and 3 are lmao. Basically I should have stopped at photo 1 because that’s as good as I can get atm.

Last one for today. The album cover for Julian Lage’s new album ‘Speak To Me’. This was fun to do. I feel like my lines are slightly better than I’ve done before, even if the proportions are very much off in comparison to the actual cover. Trying to form shape and depth through the use of shadow was super hard and didn’t really come off but I enjoyed trying it anyway. Also this is a really great album and I would recommend it if you like jazz.

Listened to the entire Spirited Away soundtrack in the time it took me to make an attempt at drawing just a fragment of this frame from the film. Don’t wanna disparage it too much cause I did actually make an effort with this compared to the other things I’ve been drawing, but man, making something good is such a challenge. I’ll get there one day hopefully.
