If a suicide could've been avoided by just having more money, it was a murder.
There is a term for this. It's called social murder.
Coined by Frederick Engels, the idea of social murder proposes that unnatural deaths are caused by social, economic, and political oppression as opposed to direct violence.
We tend to think of murder as an individualized crime. When a man kills another, the justice system moves quickly to convict him. It is cut-and-dry, as evidence of wrongdoing is easily obtained. Under the same system, a man dies from not being able to afford medication. He was not killed by another man, so certainty he was not murdered.
Yet that couldn't be further from the truth. Capitalism commodifies our basic, most fundamental needs and sells them. Price determines access in a society where wealth is not distributed fairly. If a man dies because he could not afford medical care, there's no singular entity to blame. You could point fingers at insurance companies or pharmaceutical manufacturers, but they will never be tried for the crime of doing business.
I heard once in a podcast that abuse leads to death. The quote, in its original context, was discussing the progression of domestic violence. However, the same concept can be applied to all relationships, including our relationship to society. Capitalism is a system that relies on the abuse/exploitation of workers to keep itself running. Death is an inevitable consequence of that abuse.
If the cause of death isn't old age or some genetic/unavoidable disease, then it's political. All suicides are political. All murders are political. Motive isn't even just limited to needing more money; it can be the alienation and loneliness capitalism inevitably breeds in people as a result of this exploitation. And who could forget the historical violence and continued oppression that minority groups face? It all intersects and intertwines...

Yes, the US is gonna ‘save’ the Cuban people from starving by taking over the economy instead of—you know—lifting the embargo and allowing other companies or nations to trade without being penalized!!
Definitely no ulterior motives there.
