pairing: Na Baekjin x Reader
summary: you were Baku's cousin who's parents worked in the states and every summer you'd come back to Korea. when you were little you always hung out with Baku and Baekjin, baekjin caught feelings for you and you guys dated for a little until you had to stay in the states permanently until this year. your parents got a stable job in Korea and you find out what he's been up to while you were in the states.
summer break was something you looked forward to every year, getting to be around your extended family and seeing the friends you have in Korea. you always smiled the brightest when you were with your favorite cousin baku, he always took you to parks or to get snacks for you guys while you watched TV. he always brought his friend baekjin over back then, and together they always took care of you well.
one day when baekjin was walking you home from Baku's house he said it, the words you still remember to this day.
"I like you, I want to protect you for the rest of my life. will you be my girlfriend?"
your heart was beating out of your chest that day, you could never forget the smile on both of your faces when you said yes.
he was your first boyfriend, he was your first kiss, he was yours. until the day you had to leave, that's when you saw him cry for the first time. the way you held each other on the last day you were there, then you left. for baekjin it was dead silence after the day you left, he never heard from you again.
now years later you're back in South Korea, your parents got a secure in Korea and now you're back. the moment you stepped out of the airport you took a deep breathe, the air you remembered all these years ago.
the first thing you did once your jet lag was over was to see your favorite cousin when school was over, you waited at the gates alone. your eyes flickered at all of the faces when people started to flood out, many walked pass you some looking at you wondering why you were there. that's when you saw him smiling as big as ever, and his eyes landed on you. his body stilled for a moment before opening his arms for you to run into. you jumped into his arms, he held you tight.
"y/n you have no idea how much I missed you! where have you been huh? coulda called me all these years, look at how much you've grown!!" Baku exclaimed, his hand went to ruffle your hair. you pushed his hand off after a bit with a laugh.
"oppa you haven't called me either! you haven't changed much at all." you huffed before directing your gaze to the three guys next to him just watching the interaction between you two.
"these are my friends, gotak, sieun, and the little one's juntae." Baku explained pointing to each of the boys, you bow to greet them.
"Hello it's nice to meet you I'm humin's cousin, y/n." you say, the boys exchanged polite greetings with you.
"hey where's baekjin?" you asked, the rest of their gazes changed to something darker. you shift uncomfortably, the tension in the air thick all of a sudden.
"Since your back I guess we should tell you what baekjin has been up to huh." Baku sighed. the boys looked at you nervously, not knowing about your past relationship with baekjin.
By the time you were caught up with all of the union and what they've done you couldn't even think properly, they all warned you to not approach him. you were in disbelief, and what's even worse is you needed to see him. all the terrible things they did to Baku's, and now your, friends you wanted to give him a piece of your mind.
it wasn't hard to figure out where he was at this time, the moment you left the boys your feet took you to the bowling ally. the closer you got the faster your heartbeat got. you felt angry that he would even do such things, he betrayed you. he didn't protect the ones you cared about at all, he did the exact opposite.
as you stepped into the bowling ally you were hit with the stench of smoke, and violence. eyes landed on you as you walked past the groups drinking and being obnoxious.
"a little girl like you shouldn't be here." a guy said, his eyes looked manic behind those glasses.
"I need to talk to na baekjin. where is he." you say, a smile crept up to the guy's face.
"how fun. I didn't know he had this planned tonight." he chuckled, before pointing to a door in the corner. you stepped closer hands trembling as you reached the handle, you took a deep breathe before pushing the door open. there he was motionless in front of some worksheets, his eyes looked up slowly before he stood up immediately. you held his gaze, you could hear the pounding of your heartbeat as you closed the door behind you. the two of you stayed like that for a minuet, no words said.
"you shouldn't be here." he said his voice cold, but his eyes were soft.
"you wanna explain to me why you did all of that to Baku and his friends?" you scoffed, crossing your arms. baekjin sighed, talking slow but cautious steps towards you.
"why are you here?" he asked, it wasn't even as a question almost like it was a statement to warn you to leave.
"stay away from them baekjin, if I find out that they're hurt in any way that could be linked to you. I'm going down here to kill you myself." you threatened, his eyes looked amused before he stepped into your personal bubble, taking one step at a time before your back hit a wall. he leaned in resting an arm against the wall, taking your hand with the his other hand.
"as long as you visit every so often, I won't cause any trouble." he smirked pressing a kiss onto your knuckles, your breath hitched at the sudden warmth.
"g-good. I'll come in once a week, if you're not here I'm leaving." you stuttered, he smiled before pulling away. you scrambled to leave, closing the door behind you. you felt blush creeping up to your cheeks, this is so wrong. you thought, and yet you continued to keep him company every week, he didn't bother the boys at all after. just like that you had made a deal with the devil.
