She's got fire in her veins,
smoke on her lips,
and blood staining her fists.
but her mind is wrapped in chains,
and scars mark her hips;
sometimes she forgets she even exists.

Natasha signed the Accords for no other reason than to attempt to keep the Avengers together, an action that had no effect when they ultimately split up due to the actions of Steve Rogers. She didn't agree with the principal of the thing, but she wanted to keep the group as it was. Being under government control was nothing new to Natasha considering her long history with S.H.I.E.L.D. Her entire life she had been controlled by one group or another, never really having her independence, so what made this any different? Now that the Avengers aren't together, she works as a spy for S.H.I.E.L.D again.
â Did you just ⌠bite me? â Illyana glared down at the little buggard attached to her leg. Sheâd had her fair share of ridiculous situations with the demons of limbo, but this was the first time one had the audacity to bite her. It wasnât even an attack. The little $#!& just didnât want her to leave, trying to anchor her foot down to the limbo side of her portal. Giving her leg a few rough shakes, she finally managed to send the tiny thing to the floor. â When I come back, Iâm going to bite you! You little #&*@!% ! â she sneered, shutting the portal before it could come back through. Brushing herself off, she looked at the damage the demon had done. Only the fabric of her pant leg had been shredded, but she was still annoyed. â Maybe I should go back and bite them now, see how they like it,â she grumbled, kicking a bottle across the floor. â
.
Natasha stared at the blonde talking to herself. It wasnât an unusual sight in the city, but it always made for an interesting one, no matter the situation. âMaybe you should.â She replied with a shrug. Having no idea what the other was talking about, she knew biting was always a good idea if it got you out of predicament. She had bit more than her fair share of biting to get out of weird situations. âMake sure to bite him harder than he bit you though.âÂ
Bucky chuckled softly, shaking his head âHence why I sneak healthy things here and there to ensure it stays healthy and strong. â He mused he wanted to look after those he cared forgiven he hadnât always been able to. âGood, You know if you require any help on anything you only need to ask.â he left it at that knowing if Nat needed him sheâd ask.
.
âHealthy things?â She had to hold back a laugh as James spoke. What he was describing was what she had imagined time and time again what taking care of a child was like. Tony in his own way was like a toddler, but he was a grown man, who despite choosing not to, was capable of taking care of himself. âI know.â She really did. Natasha trusted Bucky more than most people in her life. She had always had his back when he wasnât under Winter Solider programming, and even when he was. âSo is that all you do now? Take care of Tony Stark?â
âYeah I was trying things out, powers were still pretty new if I thought about it.â Peter mused honestly before nodding his head âThey usually are together from time to time, We could go check it outâ He mused finishing his food, setting the bowl in the sink before pointing to the door. âHow good are your hacking skills?â
.
Natasha nodded. She wondered what it was like to fall into powers. To not have any training or full knowledge of what you could do. It was something she had never experienced. âIâm ready when you are.â Sneaking around with the older spider sounded like it could be entertaining and she was bored. A win-win. Natasha smirked to herself when peter asked about her hacking skills. âWhy?â They were good, really good - rivalling even Tonyâs hacking skills. Tiny Dancer.Â
âYou and I have some unfinished business,â Matt replied. His tone, normally laced with an edge of playfulness, had gone flat. Standing from the spot he found himself perched, Matt slowly made his way over to Natasha. Nothing about his demeanor displayed any ill-intent, but there was something Matt wasnât saying. Yet, he allowed the silence to thicken between them. He eventually stopped a few feet closer than what was probably acceptable and stared intensely at her. After what seemed like an eternity, he smiled his iconic devilish grin, almost as if those previous moments had vanished, âIt would be hard to do my job if you donât return my calls.â
.
Hearing Mattâs familiar voice, a chill ran through Natasha. She thought that she was over this, that whatever they had. Apparently not, but she could act as if she was. âDo we?â She asked, not receiving a reply. Silence fell between the pair and she let it stay, not wanting to be the first one to break it. The tension rose comfortably. This was how things had always been between them. Her eyes followed him as Matt moved closer to her, breaking into her personal space. âI was out of the country so I left my phone. SIM cards and everything.â She said simply, a mischievous smirk tugging at the edge of her lip. Matt always brought a more devilish side of her out.Â
Yeah actually, this is the second version of this outfit, the first one was just a hoodie and maskâ He replied honestly before nodding his head âI was worried but FRIDAY alerted me that Mr Barnes is with Stark so I didnât try to break in down there or anything.â He paused for a moment âShould we?â Â
.
"Just a hoodie and a mask? At least you had a mask." Hiding his face was a good start. James was in there with Stark? It sounded like they were getting closer than she realized. "I don't know." The new information had thrown her off.
âOh you should do a show on the road, His heart reminds the same size which is good given Iâm sure that thing canât take another hitâ Bucky replied eyeing his friend smirking softly before shrugging his shoulders âPretty dead given away huh? Did you finish everything there?â he questioned, continuing to make the food.
.
"One reactor is enough." She agreed. Tony's heart was banged up enough for one lifetime. Natasha shrugged, "Done enough to come home." She kept confidential things secret, even from the people she loved.
Harley watched the bartender pour her the drink before smirking slightly at the other âThat heâd enure Iâd learn my place, jokes on him, I do what every the fuck I want when I want.â She mused, taking her drink and sipping on it for a moment. âTypical type things, either way now someone put him in his place.â
.
Some men were in need of being taught a lesson. The more the woman talked about the man she had the altercation with, the more he sounded like a man who needed to be taught a lesson. "Yeah, he'll definitely bruise."
âHands need to remain empty,â Yelena insisted. âFor combat⌠and for food.â This was oddly fun, a kind of joy that she felt very little (try, not at all except with Natasha.) âSo you admit theyâre super friends.â She pointed at her very securely and with much bravado. âThat doesnât count.â She waved off the idea that it did, she and Barton had worked things out in the end (with lots of emotions which she would hardly admit to especially to Natasha, especially because they were about Natasha). This time she couldnât hide the grin on her face as âshowing her teethâ, not when Natasha made her smile the way she did. âOur worldâs mightiest defenders? Superpowered boy scouts?â She was full out teasing now, a total mock tone and a smile of wide birth. âSo what youâre saying-â What she was hearing. â- is that theyâre posers.âÂ
.
"Did you pick up food on the way here? And you didn't pick up anything for me?" Natasha asked, feigning shock and hurt. "They're friends." Natasha would admit to that much. The Avengers had spent too much time together to just be a team. It was different than the time she had spent with S.H.I.E.L.D. -- They were closer, bonded. "How?" She asked, brows pulling together. "You did try to kill him." Natasha was pleased that Clint and Yelena had worked it out on their own. Her eyes rolled deep into the back of her head at the mention of posers, having hoped that the blonde had grown out of it by now. "I think you're the only poser here. Trying to come into Stark Tower to meet everyone pretending like you aren't excited."
Peter was still getting used to calling this Tower home, it was something straight out of Osbornâs book, that part was even weirder, as Mister Stark had never even heard of Oscorp compared to his world. âI made it?â He replied, taking another bite of his sandwich while looking at her. âIf you are looking for Mr. Stark, he is in what FRIDAY calls Lockdown Modeâ He shrugged.
.
âYou made it?â She asked, slightly impressed by the craftsmanship. For something made by what she assumed was a novice costumer, she was amazed. âI wasnât, but maybe I should be.â FRIDAY didnât typically go into Lockdown mode unless something was wrong.
âOh very funny Iâll have you know it was a real heartbreak moment, Hugs all aroundâ Bucky teased the other as he moved around the kitchen making food for the both of them shaking his head heâd missed Nat there was no denying that. âYou couldâve lied about liking something, pulling that deep undercover type thingâ He teased her nodding his head âWhere were you all this time?â
.
âDid Tonyâs heart grow three sizes too?â She teased. Natasha knew that the moment must have been special for both of them. They had been through so much, Steve included. Hopefully one day Steve and Tony would be able to reconcile the same way. âDeep undercover has never lasted long with you.â She replied seriously. âFury had me in Budapest.âÂ
Harley smiled looking at the other for a moment she found she liked those who allowed her to be herself without any worry of someone calling her stupid or crazy. âYouâre welcomeâ She mused before nodding her head âMakes sense I suppose some people just have that kind of taste budsâ She mused before shrugging her shoulders âI was having a rather great day until that asshole opened his mouth, now I think Iâll need a drink to waste the bad taste out of my mouthâ She moved her hand to the bartender ordering a drink.
.
Natasha nodded in agreement with the other woman. People had different preferences depending on their taste buds. Her taste buds preferred whiskey over other types of alcohol, not that she was much of a drinker. âWhat did he say?â She asked curiously, trying to get more of the story. Nat hadnât been paying attention to the woman or that side of the bar until the womanâs outburst.Â
âI leant someone my best pockets,â So many pockets, the best best ever honestlyâ âSo I had no space to hold it.â There was also the fiery explosion happening around them and the murderous mind controlled puppets trying to kill them but Yelena chose to focus on the finer details. âYou donât call, you donât write, itâs almost like you donât want me to meet your club of super friends.â Her tone lacked animosity, the words more teasing. âOh I see, you donât think they could handle me.â Well it was probably the opposite (Yelena knew her limits after all, like ya know, the HULK). But this way was more fun, she enjoyed the familiar banter with her sister.
.
âWhat were you using your hands for then? Unless you forgot about those.â Natasha poked fun at the blonde, teasing her. âAre you sure that you want to meet my club of super friends?â She asked. âDidnât you try to kill one of them?â It was inevitable that Natasha would hear about Yelenaâs mission to try and assassinate her best friend. There were no hard feelings. For a long time, Nat would kill without caring who the target was. She had been there. âExactly. Two widows might be too much for them to handle. Theyâre superpowered boy scouts most of the time.âÂ
Tony blinked as Natasha spoke. When had she gotten here? He reached absently for the coffee cup and took a sip, a frown touching his lips as the taste hit his tongue. âHey, this is tasty,â he said, looking into the depths of the mug as though the sight of the coffee itself could solve the mystery. âPepper did not make this.â He looked around. âNot that Pepper makes bad coffee,â he said, a little more loudly, in case Pepper was listening. Or in case FRIDAY snitched. âItâs just that decaffeinated coffee is a crime against nature and against man.â He looked over at Natasha. âIâm not up early,â he said. âThat would imply I went to sleep.â
.
A sly smile tugged at the corner of Natâs lips. She only allowed it to go that far, not wanting to expose herself. It was a harmless prank, but she wanted to see how long she could keep it up. âIs it usually bad?â Natasha asked, acting confused. âMaybe Happy did.â She offered an alternate solution, leading him towards a different answer than the true one. âYouâre still up early even if you didnât go to sleep. This is early, not late.âÂ
âSince I moved inâ Bucky smirked looking at his friend after all it wasnât something he expected outside of that first night theyâd stayed up most of the night talking. âYeah, all that bag of laughs with a sprinkle of tears.â He mused about getting out the ingredients for a sandwich before smirking âI suppose I could make two instead of one, still like the same things or have you somehow changed all your taste buds since we last had a meal together?â
.
âYou donât say.â Nat replied, not entirely surprised by the lack of an actual time frame. âA sprinkle of tears?â She questioned, brows raising again. âCute. Sorry I missed it.â Natasha did ask any more questions about it. Whatever had happened was between James and Stark. âIâm almost 100% sure thatâs not how taste buds works, but nothingâs changed.âÂ
Something was off about this Spider-Man. He wasnât the one she was used to: the kid who talked a little too much and was a little too over enthusiastic. No. This Spider-Man was taller and thinner. His walk was different and his footsteps were quieter, something only acquired after years of practice and a reason to have practiced them. He was different. âWhere did you get that?â She asked, nodding towards the clearly not Stark-made suit.Â
Natasha walked into the lab, steaming cup of coffee in hand. She had been careful to avoid Pepper on her way in so that she wouldnât be caught. The plan was simple: swap Tony is coffee before anyone noticed. Anyone being either Tony or Pepper. It was a harmless joke and Natasha wanted to see if he could actually tell the difference. She took no time in sneaking over to the spot where Tonyâs decaf sat on one of the lab tables. Exchanging the mugs, she took the decaf and walked over to Tony. Sipping it, she pretended to peek at what he was doing. âYouâre up early.âÂ
