backstory;

jax storm was born into a cult in bludhaven, his mother found out that if jax was not born a meta human- he would have been ‘sacrificed’ to the demon they worshiped in a ritual. as he started to reach the age of five, and hadn’t yet started showing signs of meta-human physiology: his mother took him and ran from the cult. successfully hiding with him in gotham city for years. 

jax’s life was relatively normal for gotham standards. he went to school in the narrows. he got a little caught up in the petty crime of the narrows. his mother was struggling to pay the bills as a singer, so he figured he could help in some way. although his days of petty theft were short-lived when someone he’d pick-pocketed caught up to him and beat him senseless. saved by batman and robin during a patrol. he started to idolize them. 

trying out the vigilante thing by himself had been difficult but he wasn’t about to let that stop him. jax stopped small crimes in his own neighbourhood. inspired by batman- but especially by robin. who looked to be a similar age to him. he was scrappy and his fighting skills weren’t all that great, but he made do. especially as his smoke manipulation started to manifest. needing to light things on fire at first to even use it. he started going by ‘smokescreen’. though that name wouldn’t stick.

his fun would abruptly come to an end on his 18th birthday, coming home to find his mother surrounded by a bunch of people he didn’t recognize. all of which, had a strange goth-like style. trying to fight them all off for her, things got rough. jax was overwhelmed and one of them even managed to grab him and give him a deep cut across the bridge of his nose. his mother put up a bit of a fight but eventually she was kidnapped. 

knowing that the police were useless... jax rifled through his mother’s things for an answer. he found her diary, which mentioned the cult and was able to use the clues in there to find out where it was. 

tracking down the cult a few years later, but without a plan. jax barged in on a mission to retrieve his mother. it was during this fight, one against many, that he ended up going against the one rule he’d set for himself. massacring nearly all of them out of anger. splattered with blood and hooded. he was referred to by one of them as the ‘red reaper’. 

although he ended up saving his mother, she was traumatized by his display of anger. calling him evil and a ‘demon’. she refused to live with him any longer and casted him out on the street to make his own way. 

now, jax lives in new york city as a mechanic. hoping to start over in a new place.

They’re known to be ( PROTECTIVE ) but also ( RESERVED ) and they’re ( 22 ) years old. 

HISTORY

When Scott was a boy growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, his father, USAF Major Christopher Summers, took the family for a flight in their de Havilland Mosquito. It came under attack by an alien Shi'ar spaceship. As the plane went down in flames, Scott’s parents fastened him into a parachute and pushed him off the plane, hoping that he would survive.

Scott did survive and become a ward of the state. He suffered a head injury on landing that damaged the part of Scott’s brain that would have enabled him to control his optic blasts. The doctor, who happened to be Mr. Sinister, took an interest in the boy. He had Scott told his older brother had no interest in being his guardian (though Alex’s unavailability was actually due to being in solitary confinement in a government prison).

One night, Scott woke up and destroyed the roof of the hospital with his optic blast. In his shock, he resumed his coma. When Scott woke up again, a year had passed. Upon recovering, Scott was placed in the State Home for Foundlings, an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska. There he was subjected to batteries of tests and experiments by the orphanage’s owner, Mr. Milbury, an alias for Mr. Sinister. Sinister placed mental blocks on Scott and took on the role of “Lefty,” who was Scott’s roommate and bullied him at the orphanage. Sinister intervened any time anyone came close to adopting Scott.

At the age of 13 Scott grew frustrated with his circumstances, and he ran away. He was drawn to a mutant criminal named Jack Winters, also known as the Jack O'Diamonds. Jack O'Diamonds sought to use Scott’s new found talent in his crimes and physically abused the young boy when he initially refused. However, Scott’s display of power had attracted the attention of Alex Summers, who had been looking for Scott for quite some time. Scott was rescued from Winters’ clutches by his brother.

Though Alex couldn’t stay with Scott due to his fugitive status he left him family friends of theirs. [Insert: Events of X-Men Apocalypse].

After losing his brother Alex, Scott took up great responsibility in the X-Men. He strives to be the best leader he could be and protect all the other X-Men to the very best of his abilities. 

NOTES:

Despite being apart of the X-Men Scott’s still a lonely, shy teenager thrust into a very tense situation and responsibilities who just lost his brother. He’s led a loveless life ever since the death of his parents, making him appear cold, shy and very reserved — a feeling that is reinforced by his heavy ruby-quartz glasses. He’s a nerd, has a minimal social life. Furthermore, his power being always on is a source a major angst. Scott attempts to appear more mature than he is by acting very serious.

HISTORY

Once the princess of Markovian, everything went to shit once her meta-human gene activated. Suddenly she was being exiled and hunted by her own people. Eventually she was found, only 8 years old and hunted down like a dog. They were getting ready to drag her by the car, watch her die painfully, when a man called Slade Wilson intervened. He helped Tara learn control over her powers and made her into his ultimate weapon. 

Tara owed Slade her life, she believed he would always protect her no matter what. So when he sent her to infiltrate the Teen Titans she did so without hesitation. She hadn’t expected them to be so kind, to be so good, for the lies she created turn to truth as she began to love and trust them. But she was never theirs, she was never one of them. The person they cared about was a role that Slade made for. She was his, he sent her in there, he knew who she was and still cared. That was what mattered most. Right?

 Betraying them hurt like the worst pain in her life. Tara had never known anything like the sharpness in her chest when she saw the betrayal come to life on their faces, when they realized what she’d done and who she was. Who she had always been. It was easier to tell herself they would have never accepted her anyway, so much easier calling who she was a fake then believing they truly had once loved her. 

Any fool could have seen it coming miles away, but Slade’s own betrayal still came as a surprise to Tara. He was supposed to care about her, to protect her, he was supposed to be her father. Yet, instead he used her like a puppeteer used a puppet. The strings tied tightly around her wrists until they bled, and suddenly not even her own body belonged to Tara anymore.

It was when he was her using her hands to try to kill Garfield Logan that Tara broke free of his control. She couldn’t be the weapon that brought the end to such a good life, she just couldn’t. She wasn’t strong enough to fight for herself, but she was strong enough to fight for him. So fight for him she did. Fighting Slade’s control over her was agony, but Tara didn’t care. So much as Garfield and the other Titans survived, everything would be okay.

At least, it should have been. Tara had been prepared to die that tonight. She had not only accepted it, but she was resigned to it. There was no next for her. No redemption. No more. She was tired. She wanted to rest. But she was never so lucky to be spared even death. 

The next years of her life were spent in recovery, the Titans believing she had died and Tara wishing that had been true. She couldn’t even physically move her body by the time the blip occurred. She heard many of the ‘deaths’ post mortem in her hospital room. Sobbing on their behalf had been her first true movement at all. Then it was all physical therapy from there on out. It was only in the last year did she finally recover enough to stand on her own two feet. Now she lives her life trying to hunt down Slade Wilson, and avoid the Titans. 

NOTES

Tara is primarily based off the 03 cartoon with some comic and movies mixed in.

All the Titans operate under the belief she’s dead, to Tara’s knowledge. I could imagine some who have access to greater resources are aware of her being alive (IE, Bruce Wayne would probably be aware of her living).

Tara’s somewhat of a time bomb. She’s extremely insecure, self hating, volatile and a monster temper to boot. It should be noted though, if you express kindness to her she’s quick to become protective.

Having the ability of ( ELECTRUM ENHANCEMENT, EXPERT MARTIAL ARTS, SKILLED ACROBAT, ESCAPOLOGY) sure makes them a force to be reckoned with. They’re known to be ( METHODICAL) but also ( MANIPULATIVE ) and they’re ( 40 ) years old.

- INTRODUCING CALVIN ROSE

Life before the Court: Calvin Rose was eight years old when his father locked him in an old dog kennel and threw away the key. He kept hitting the chain to the gate with a rock for three nights with no progress. On the third night, he found the chain's weak spot and hit it off, running from his home until his legs gave out. He soon discovered an old man who performed at Haly's Circus, who took him in and trained him to become an escape artist.

Over that summer, he could pick any lock that you could throw at him. By age ten, he knew fourteen different ways to escape from a straitjacket. When the old man passed away, Calvin took over his act. When Calvin was thirteen, he was set for a star act of the Gotham spectacular: the biggest show of the year. However, Mr. Haly took him to a private performance for the Court of Owls. He did his usual performance, albeit in the dark. It was the first time since the kennel that Calvin felt trapped, but he manages to calm himself and escape. Mr. Haly gave him over to the man from the Court, where he agrees to join the court so that he can get rid of evil people.

- Grand Escape from the Court:

After undergoing years of training to become a Talon, Calvin is instructed to kill the Talon that he is meant to replace. As a final test, he is put into a maze that he must complete. However, he manages to escape from the maze (being the first one to ever do this) and is accepted into the Court.

He was sent on a mission to break into the apartment of the late Eric Washington, whose company Security had been developing the most advanced security systems for years. Since his death, the company - and his apartment - had been inherited by his twenty-three-year-old daughter Casey, much to the chagrin of his investors.

The Court had ordered Calvin to bring an end to the Washington bloodline. Until he had broken into the apartment and prepared himself for the murder he would have to commit, Calvin had not thought why the Court had not specifically asked him to target Casey Washington. This was because she had a two-year-old daughter named Sarah. He started to feel sick as he realized that these were not bad people, so he knocked Casey out and escaped with her and Sarah, fleeing the Court's wrath in the form of other Talons who wanted to bring him back and kill him in the process.

During this time Calvin changed his name to Alex Cain and found himself living with Theo Cain. He was able to get seven years of happiness before the Court of Owls hunted him down. Part of him was glad Theo was out so that he didn’t get killed by his past mistakes. When he refused to return to service they killed him making it look like he was just another sad case of Overdosing.

- Talon Lives Again:

After his death, Calvin's system was infused with a chemical compound called "Electrum" that could reanimate dead tissue and heal living tissue over and over again. This process was done in tantum of brainwashing process to turn Calvin back into the perfect weapon.  His memory is very faded given he can remember his training and missions but he doesn’t remember the 7 years he led a normal life with Theo or disobeying the Court initially.  

Due to the Electrum  coursing through his veins he must return to the Court to get another shot of Electrum to keep living. Being stronger then most he can go about four days without needing to be pushed back into the pod but he does have a dependence upon it making even more loyal to the Court of Owls.

Currently he was relocated to New York, while trying to get himself off the Electrum doses he feel into a deep coma. Their Talon not being actives he was moved to a facility out here to use what they could to replicate the success story he was with little results.

He has only just woken up and a side effect of the medicine and what he can only explain as being pushed into coma but he remembers everything about the fact he’d already escaped the Court once living a perfectly normal life with Theo Cain. With a new resolve to take back his life and break away from the Court.
