Hearing Matt’s familiar voice, a chill ran through Natasha. She thought that she was over this, that whatever they had. Apparently not, but she could act as if she was. “Do we?” She asked, not receiving a reply. Silence fell between the pair and she let it stay, not wanting to be the first one to break it. The tension rose comfortably. This was how things had always been between them. Her eyes followed him as Matt moved closer to her, breaking into her personal space. “I was out of the country so I left my phone. SIM cards and everything.” She said simply, a mischievous smirk tugging at the edge of her lip. Matt always brought a more devilish side of her out.
“You never were fond of doing things the easy way,” Matt recalled this fact with a breathy laugh, “Then again... I always did like that about you.”
It was easy for Matt to be drawn into Natasha. He was well-aware that he was standing closer than what would be considered professional, but with all the things they’ve been through, Matt wasn’t against breaking some rules if it meant being near the one person he always found his way back to.
“Am I always going to have to chase after you, or will you talk to me?” Tension danced on Matt’s voice, but he played it off as if it didn’t mean a thing. If he had been invading her space before, he was pushing his luck by bringing his face a few inches closer. While Matt may have not been looking at anything in particular except the general direction where Natasha stood, his eyes seemed to bore deeply into her own, “I prefer the former, but I don’t mind doing either if that’s how it’s going to be.”
