i love the idea of sam being searingly jealous over dean ever since he was little. four years old and pitching a fit if dean spent too long talking to a friend at school instead of him. eight and having outbursts over john going out to train dean without him. twelve and glaring daggers at any woman who shows interest in dean. sixteen and sabotaging dean's dates and one night stands. twenty and awake at night choked with fear that dean has moved on. twenty-four and crazed with it any time dean gets on too well with another hunter. twenty-eight and he's starting to think he's never going to grow out of it.

It's so telling when I see those posts where someone is freaking out and insisting Dean would never ever bottom for Sam, because it all boils down to that person seeing bottoming as inherently submissive and feminine and degrading, which is a really fucked up way to view sex. And the fact it's women making these posts just makes me sad. Sex isn't a thing that happens to you, it's something you participate in. Penetrating someone isn't an inherent act of violence, and being penetrated isn't isn't an inherently act of submission. There is no moral value ascribed to a role in sex, being the bottom doesn't make you more virtuous and innocent and pure, being the top doesn't make you aggressive and cruel and bad.
