hello ! as seen on my birth certificate, i am mx-gt90, but i go by mitchell. this is a sideblog to @exmicha for all of my supernatural purposes, as well as the occasional book, show, or movie that catches my eye. i am currently learning how to gif.

at heart, i am a samgirl, but this does not mean i do not love dean 4ever. my favorite spn characters are jo, ellen, rufus, bela, and gordon. as you can see, i have hit an unfortunate stroke of biased writing bad luck, but we soldier on. i like wincest & gen winchesters more or less equally. sals/ykinmk/dldr here, i have nothing but respect for my fellow fans whose ship interests lie elsewhere.

my interest in supernatural is about 30% based in my interest in fandom. i am very much a "fandom is my fandom" type, and i'm a huge nerd about the culture. if i'm getting pretentious about the role of wincest in fandom as a whole, i promise i was like that before i watched the show. i spend way too much time browsing fanlore, live journal, and fandom wank, and it does impact my vocabulary. lol.

i'm not your mom, i can't make you do anything, but this blog is run by an adult with an adult audience in mind. i block freely.

internet will try to convince you that if all of the supernatural characters were women you have to pick one winchester brother to be butch ... but this isn't true and you must not listen to them ... with the power of love and lesbianism they can both be butch. in fact, every character in the entire show could be butch, if we work together.

always thinking about transfem sam during those brief glorious years at stanford. just her and her circle of friends she can be this honest beautiful version of herself with, not tied down in her past or hunting, not tied down in the expectations of her father. just her and jess and a future she's always wanted stretched out ahead of her. jess, the one who kept this secret from the week after they met, until the end of first year when sam was first willing to tell other people. jess who saw every version of sam as she grew comfortable in this new self. jess, who the happy, hopeful version of sam died with. sam keeps a photo of herself and jess in her wallet long after jess has died, and dean catches her looking at it and can only know of the way she is mourning jess, not the way she is mourning herself as well.

i do like to think that sam & dean could not have been normal, regardless. their upbringing obviously did things to them, and a lot of their co-dependence is based on being the only people they could rely on for vast swaths of their childhoods, but even without any of it, from mary dying, to john turning them into hunters, to being destined for greater things, i think they'd still be like that, at least to a degree. i don't think there's a world where dean winchester, age four, doesn't look at sam and know that he's what he was put on this earth for.

the idea of ever describing sam and dean as "more than just brothers" is insane to me. what do you mean more than "just" brothers. each other's brother is practically all either of them are. it's practically how they self identify. dean is "sam's brother", and sam is "dean's brother". dean's sense of self is held up by sticks, glue and his deep foundational need to keep sammy safe. he's sam's big brother before he's anything else. and sam can try to pretend that he could have a life outside of being a winchester, outside of being dean's little brother, but time and time again he proves he's the same, if not worse. they need to be brothers more than they need to breathe. anything else is secondary, or directly tied up as a facet of their brotherhood.
