Yo, imma let you finish, but is a hotline for DEAF people a good idea? Did you think this through?
Yo, I have a better question. Why don’t you just click the damn link I provided at the first place to find out? Â
Hearing people like to think we don’t think things through, but…
They answer emails, instant messages, and video calls for those of y'all that didn’t click the link
in LIN 510, module 4, especially the cormier et al (2012)’s research results gave me a different perspective on the Age of Acquisition (AoA). The main find was Late-exposed signer BSL scored higher on reading scores: Late-exposed > Native > Early-exposed. I understood and expected the result due to the amount of English usage... I still argue that Native signers can score the same or better if they READ and WRITE English on a daily basis.Â
ASL 1 learners definitely practiced a lot at home.. it makes me happy!Â
Interactive activity is a great opportunity for learners to play a game and learn something new! Last Wednesday, we did an interactive activity I assumed everyone knew but apparently, it is deaf people’s game! Our ASL 1 learners including me and another MASLED student played the elephant game to gain hearing learners’ receptive skills. Also, I think this activity is beneficial as an icebreaker activity. The ASL learners loosen up a bit and enjoyed playing the elephant game. The main goal of any interactive games is to make learning fun!
How to play?? The Elephant game is when students form a circle and a pointer will be in the middle. When a student is pointed, they will need to form a trunk with both fists on their nose and the students will need to make the ears with an opened hand if they are next to the student who was pointed. Any mistakes and/or slow-reactions will be called out.
A little PSA about ASL for ‘Thank you’! I’ve had all of these signed to me accidentally hahaha. And whenever I sign thank you to non signers, sometimes they thought I was blowing a kiss to them. T_T ✩ Twitter ✩ Tapastic ✩ Facebook ✩ Patreon ✩
