Regarding Legend of Link Fic Fight 2026
To all Heroes of the Legend of Link Fic Fight and heroes-in-training: we must unfortunately announce that our next event will be delayed until 2027.
Because of this change, we will be closing the Discord, and the Tumblr will functionally become an archive.
That means the Tumblr askbox will be closed for the foreseeable future, as there won't be anyone available to answer your questions in a timely manner. It will NOT be deleted or hidden, so any post on our blog will still be available for reblogging.
As for the Discord, we will give everyone time to gather whatever links or conversations still available to them before we remove all members from the server.

We know this decision comes almost a little too close to when we had wanted to open sign-ups, but this was not an easy decision to make. It comes from a combination of real-life schedule conflicts, the explosion of pervasive AI-nonsense, and maddening decisions being made by Discord that have us concerned about our ability to run this event safely and efficiently.
The mods and I have been looking at the explosion of so-called AI into every little corner and facet of the Internet with growing concern. Those of you who took part in the 2025 event know how the event relied absolutely on Google-powered online tools, for both the event-created materials and those created by the participants themselves. At this time, we have been unable to locate a suitable replacement for both the forms and the sheets that is not the AI-filled wasteland that is now Google.
In addition to that, the situation with Discord and its planned world-wide roll-out of age verification is also something of great concern, though it has theoretically been delayed. Membership in the Fic Fight Discord group is required in order to take part in this event, so we can ensure information gets out to everyone in a timely manner, but we never want anyone to feel as though they are being forced to engage with a company and product they're uncomfortable with, so we're unsure how to move forward.
Choosing where to host Fic Fight tools and how best to redevelop them for whatever platform that ends up being is going to take a great deal of time. Things change, rapidly, daily, both online and in real life. And with many members of the mod team having changes in their availability, it is just simply not possible for us to dedicate the time and care this event deserves, so collectively made the decision to delay our second year.
We’re not happy at having to make this decision. I, Halo, the creator, am not happy at having to make this decision. I put so much time and love into getting Legend of Link Fic Fight up off the ground, and I want to continue running the event and improving it and seeing what people create. The people who chose to participate last year, and all of those who want to participate in the future, deserve an event that reflects that passion and effort.
