Here’s a question that no one ever has a good answer for: why are cashiers forced to stand? Who decided people need to stand for 4 hours straight between breaks when they don’t MOVE?

I’ve heard that in places other than the U.S. cashiers are not forced to stand. is this true?

Aldi let’s their cashiers sit, and I don’t think their origins are the us.

In Chile, cashiers, and workers of any class, have chairs or stools. We have a specific law for this, called Ley De La Silla (Chair Law), active since 1914, that decrees that owners of commerce MUST have chairs for their workers.

Making people stand the entire day is not exactly humane. I didn’t know U.S. cashiers had to put up with that.

There isn’t any problem re: stress on your body with standing that long UNLESS you’re not provided with the anti-stress mats.
