Blu died today
He was about 2, f not a little older. Couldnt swin well, ended up upside down but alive. Took him to the vet to be put to sleep.

Great question! That horizontal “blink” and the three oval pupils are various tricks of the light as it bounces off the mantis shrimp’s triple-banded, highly-faceted eyes!Â
Mantis shrimp do not have eyelids, so they don’t blink—but they do clean their eyes frequently to keep things 20/20!
The eyes of mantis shrimp have three bands, each with a focal point. One mantis shrimp eye is therefore tri-focal, meaning they have depth perception with just one eye! Those three focal point “pupils” appear when the eye is looking toward the camera.
Each band is sensitive to different types of light, including polarized light, allowing mantis shrimp to see and communicate using visual signals that play across a huge visual spectrum!Â

Hey I just found out you can make pet profiles on amazon, aka you enter your pet’s type and name, and it provides you with a (mostly shitty) suggested shopping list, but more importantly COUPONS! Not all the coupons are for good stuff either but there’s a few things in there that are worth it (API stress coat, aqueon heaters, some fair looking bird cages and toys, CHE’s, etc).
You can have them send you monthly coupon emails I think but I don’t want to be spammed so I turned that off, I’ll just check the page when I remember I guess.Â

When I first brought my Betta home we discovered he had fin rot, and I had to learn very quickly and very difficulty how to take care of it. Now that I've been successful I want to help others.
