Dante’s eye widened in horror as he realized what he had just said, well what he meant and how he said it was two different things. “wait! Totally not what I meant. Th-It totally just came out wrong.” He stammered over his words like a fool. Which he was, if Dante knew something it was that he a king of making an idiot of himself. “I’m sorry, not what I meant. Forgive, princesa?” His gaze becoming puppy-like, he was hoping she would forgive him. Dante laughed, knowing he was getting himself involved with someone who pushes his idea of the best higher up, which was fine. Maybe it’s what Dante needed after Mindy. “Told you. So it’s set for our second date then.” His smile spreading as he talked to her, Dante truly was staring at her in awe as she glanced at the sky. Dante couldn’t help but kiss her cheek once more, “see, you’re doing great at it! You don’t give yourself enough credit.” Dante rubbed her back gently, he knew it was hard to be an adult, but they were managing. Dante at this point was smiling from ear to ear, he couldn’t help it, it was such a delight that she hinted at the third date. “Most people do, and they love supporting local business. We give good warranties as well.” He laughed, it was true, people loved supporting their local businesses, and it proved worthy since his family’s shop had been around since 1993. Dante hummed as he thought of an answer, “I don’t hate it. I’m not sure, I feel like I should, you know? I’m good at it, and it’s the family business but I also have always been drawn to music.” He confessed, deciding that if they were going to be anything, honesty was the best policy. “What about you? Do you love what you do? You sound like you do. Is it something you can do forever?” From how she spoke about it, it sounded like she had a real passion for it and that was something someone couldn’t fake, he was sure she did love it but it didn’t hurt to ask. Dante smiled at her, “yeah, I still get excited over small things. The world hasn’t pounded joy out of me yet.” A chuckle escaping his lips. Dante looked at her as she spoke, nodding “I can see that. It suits you. Adrenaline would be for you but for tonight said, rush is going to have to sit on the back burner. Maybe you’ll have a different time of rush.” His tone playful. Dante sat in the seat and turned to Leila, and just admired her. He didn’t feel the need to voice her beauty, at least for now. He laughed at the reference she made, “that movie was so extra.” Dante wrapped his around her and cozied up to her once they were buckled, and slowly the Ferris wheel began to move them. Dante stared at the ground and the world beneath began to get smaller the higher they moved up. He loved it, he felt so small, some people probably hated the feeling but Dante loved it. It meant that anything and everything that was hurting would pass, the world had bigger schemes, it truly humbled him. “What do you think, princesa?”
Leila grinned, happy he caught his mistake, and she nodded. “Forgiven. And yes, the beach will be our second date. I can’t wait.” And she couldn’t! They’d have more time to prepare and it’d be so cliche. This... date was actually rather cliche already, but Leila loved it. She was just a sucker for romance, after all. She giggled lightly at the small cheek kiss, absolutely fond of the man. He was sweet! She liked that they were gonna go old school and try each other out before actually... making anything official. It was nice. Leila hummed lightly, comfortable up on the ferris wheel, and she leaned her head against his shoulder a little. “I love music.” She said, glancing up at him. “If it’s your passion, you should chase it. You shouldn’t do things just because you think you should or people expect you to. You should... do what you love as much as you can.” Leila beamed and nodded happily. “I love beauty, I love makeup. Music is another love of mine but... I think I’d rather stay here and work as a makeup artist and make people smile once they see themselves in the mirror.” She sighed dreamily. “Nothing makes me happier than making people... feel happy about themselves like that. But I love music. Do you play anything? Sing? Will you play me something on our second date?” She gasped. “Oh, we could do a duet together!” She suggested, getting very excited for the next time they see each other. Leila glanced over at the world around her and bit back a smile, leaning forward a little to lean her arms over the railing, yet still feeling Dante’s arm around her. It was comforting, actually. “I think... I think it’s cute that you get excited about small things. I think it might be one of my favorite traits about you, actually.” She softly laughed and shook her head gently as she kept looking around. Everything was so vast and endless. It was actually very beautiful. “And I think it’s beautiful up here. It makes me want to see the rest of the world, too. But I like being this high up because I feel like I can see everything—and yet it’s... it’s all so small. It’s so mindblowing because up here... everything feels so limitless. I really love this feeling.” She looked over at Dante and curled up into his side again. “Thank you for this... surprise date. Can we text and stuff after this? Pretty sure people dream about dates like this and people think, oh, romance is dead because everyone’s afraid of the cliche things. ‘Cause it’s all been done before and people think it’s bullshit but it’s not. I love this, this is everything. I’m having fun!” She leaned up to kiss his cheek and wrapped her arms around his waist from his side.
