severing-angel:
The angel raised his brows in surprise as Kaito grabbed his face, pulling him closer. Alexei couldn’t help but smile, clearly amused at Kaito’s drunken ramblings, and found his friend thinking over his words quite endearing. Grunting again as the werewolf grabbed him and hugged him very tightly, Alexei returned the hug as best he could, despite the air being squeezed out of him. “L-Love you too…” he managed.
“I’m not as tough as you… You can’t go around breaking my spine like that…” the blonde grumbled at Kaito as they broke from the embrace. Blinking at the slap on his cheek, Alexei only sighed reluctantly. “One drink, and then that’s all for you, okay? You’re scaring off your patrons,” he chuckled.
Pushing his index finger against Alexei’s mouth, Kaito’s unfocused gaze found the angel’s and his hushed tone was louder than he knew as he pressed nearer and urged his friend. “Ssh! You can’t let people know what you are!” He patted the other man’s cheek and separated the two of them to slap a hand against the bar and call the attention of the tender working that evening. A young wolf he was trying to convince to move to town and join his pack—the daily commute had to be draining. “Two more beers, my friend! This is Alexei, he’s awesome. You should get to know him.”
The Alpha’s eyes grew comically wide as he gestured between the two and spoke louder than necessary. “You two should go on a date! He’s gay too!” He bellowed, laughter following the exclamation. Not that Alexei was gay, but bisexual wasn’t far off as far as Kaito was concerned. “You’d make such a cute couple!”
severing-angel:
Alexei snorted at the grin on Kaito’s face, shaking his head in amusement. He grunted as the werewolf’s arm slapped his chest, cocking a brow as he tapped the bar counter. “Hi. How much did you have to drink? You smell like your bar, and I don’t mean that in a good way,” he protested, sighing as he glanced around the place. While he knew the Alpha owned the place, Alexei still hoped that the few patrons at that time weren’t bothered by the rowdy man.
“Kai… No more drinks for you, yeah? I think you’ve had enough…” he mused with a warm smile.
Slumping himself across the bar top, Kaito cupped Alexei’s chin in his palm and dragged his face closer to his own, voice pitched low and conspiratorial-like. “Ssh, no one knows I’m drink, okay?” His face fell suddenly, eyes almost crossing as his brow furrowed in thought. “Drunk! I meant drunk!” Snorting, the Alpha threw himself into Alex’s arms and hugged him as tightly as he could, embracing him with all his might. “I love you, bro… I r-really do…”
He pulled himself back slightly and slapped a hand gently against the angel's cheek, a gentle smile curving his lips. “You need a drink! Drink with me!”
More concerned about the random texts he was getting from Kaito than anything, Alexei was lucky that Dante had agreed to watch over Wren for a little while as he drove down to the bar to check up on his friend. Alexei couldn’t really make sense of the nonsense that was showing up on his phone, and figured that Kaito was probably drunk. Showing up at the werewolf’s bar, the angel cautiously knocked on the door, peeking in. It was a bit early for the bar to be completely crowded, and his eyes narrowed in on Kaito at the bar with quite a few bottles around him.
Sighing, Alexei strolled over to his friend, sliding into the seat next to him. “You’re going to ruin me one day, you know. Making me all worried from whatever you’ve been trying to tell me.”
@fykaito
Deciding that he felt more his age that night than any previous, Kaito drowned his sorrows with a crate or so of beer and slumped against his own bar, singing randomly and no doubt annoying his patrons. He didn’t even care, the Alpha was far too drunk to rein himself in and protect his image, with no signs of stopping anytime soon. The man was wasted and tapping away at the screen of his phone, no idea who he was actually texting or what he was saying and he’d likely regret the entire evening the next morning, but he’d worry about that time when it came.
A lopsided grin tugged at his lips when a familiar voice reached his ears from his side. Squinting, he turned his bleary eyed gaze on his friend and flung an arm out towards Alexei, accidentally slapping him in the chest with a cheery laugh. “Hello!”

littlest-clemonte:
“I wouldn’t say specialty I just like making them and then eating them. Donuts are so delicious well any thing sweet is very good. I can eats sweets all day long.”
“You and me both. I have a very sweet tooth. I honestly devour far too many sweet things in the span of a week. Including alcohol. But I think that comes with owning a bar, at least that’s my excuse.”
littlest-clemonte:
“Yes we definitely could be! How about I make the donuts before you come over? That way they are already done and you can eat as many as you would like.”
"I'm definitely down with doing that, I love me some donuts. You can fatten me up and keep me happy as we prepare. Besides, if they're a specialty of yours, I have to try them."
jacksoncarver:
His response was best summed up to a grim smile, the idea that Kaito knew the specifics of what happened to most people he encountered an uncomfortable one. It wasn’t that he was necessarily ashamed of what he was, although he certainly didn’t like it, but that the great majority of those he’d met had viewed it ( and him ) with disgust. While not unwarranted, it was difficult to imagine that the werewolf wouldn’t respond in a similar fashion. “Less appealing is an understatement,” he half-joked instead, forcing himself not to immediately withdraw from the situation. He couldn’t just keep convincing himself that everyone was out to attack him for things that were out of his control. Of course, that didn’t mean always assuming otherwise—plenty of people would’ve happily seen him dead. Soulmerians included. “I… thanks, I think?” He was half tempted to make a remark that Kaito needed better taste in men, but he thought it might be rude ( or worse, whiny ) to continue to flaunt his low opinion of himself. “I appreciate the compliment, then,” he finished, flashing another smile and drowning the instinctive urge to disagree with another gulp from his bottle. “I don’t mind talking about it,” he reassured him, shrugging a shoulder. “A warlock is just what we—well, they—call men capable of using magic. They cast spells, and things like that. I was never very good at it.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t in the way that it could be corrected; low magic in the blood was a permanent hindrance. Now that he was of a different species, of course, Jack hardly thought it mattered. The ghost of a slightly more genuine ( and appreciative ) smile appeared on his face at Kaito’s reassurance, but it faded long before he returned with a fresh round of drinks. “Other than humans? Probably… demons.” He paused, thinking back to a certain few he’d met in Bright Haven. “Definitely demons.” They were one of the most widely-despised supernaturals, and while a similar plight befell his own species, he wasn’t entirely convinced it was unjustified. “You?”
The somber expression making an appearance on Jack’s face disconcerted Kaito, almost prompting him to shift nearer to the other and offer some comfort, but self-preservation had him holding back. The Wendigo had eaten—probably cleared out his freezer section too—that was without a shadow of a doubt, but that didn't mean he was full. From the Alpha’s experience with his kind, it was impossible for them to sate their hunger. The lifestyle sounded like a version of hell Kaito was glad he didn’t have to endure—even just peckishness drove him insane until he finally managed to eat, he couldn’t imagine how intolerable Jack's constant starvation was. “I’m sure when I’m in wolf form I’d be incredibly unattractive to you,” he reasoned, a small pause following his comment before a sharp bark of laughter rent the air and Kaito met the others eyes, a mischievous glint in his own. “Not that you find me attractive now. I wasn’t suggesting that. Just saying… you know, when we’re in our other form, we’re not appealing to other species. Or sometimes even our own. I once had a wolf tell me I was an ugly wolf. I’m not gonna lie, I was seriously offended. He said I was okay looking like this, but not as a wolf. I wanted to rip his throat out.” A derisive snort left his lips with the unsavory memory and Kaito curled his fingers around the cool bottle on the counter top, pulling it closer to his chest—if only for something to do with his hands other than balling them into fists. Some people were simply devoid of tact. “Have you since tried again to rediscover that part of yourself? You might be better able to handle it all now that you’re older. It kinda sounds like you weren’t given much of a chance… or even the right tools in your youth. Aren’t you supposed to have a lot of help with it growing up? To say you just weren’t good with magic sounds like you didn’t have the right tutelage.” It was only a theory, but one he strongly suspected to be true. If his own father had failed to teach him how to become the best Alpha possible, he might have turned out just like his brother and that would've been devastating for his pack—maybe even Bright Haven too. The comment about demons garnered Kaito's attention, surprising a laugh from his throat as his elbow shot out to connect with the other man's. “Shit, can’t say I disagree with you, but what did they do to you that made you dislike them so?” Snickering, the Alpha shook his head, wholeheartedly amused by Jack's remark before his own response fell from his lips with a groan. "Vampires. I hate them.”
hxnrysalazar:
Henry couldn’t pinpoint the exact moment when he had finally stopped fighting the inevitable. With an existence built on pure accident, he still never felt such an overwhelming longing for death more than he had now. It wasn’t even Kaito’s heart-broken questions that pierced through the sullen outer exterior he chose to shield himself with. It chipped at an already growing fissure, spreading every single time those blissful, yet terrifying thoughts sprung back up, dead set to consume even the foreign corners of his consciousness, until finally being rid of everything felt like the only option available.
His teeth sunk down hard atop his tongue, forcing back a groan as his body collided with the metal shelf. It was impossible to ignore the dizziness cascading in waves through his body - especially now, his anxiety only serving to encourage the nausea griping in his stomach. Holding both arms over his mid-section, as if awaiting another blow, offering a half-hearted chuckle at Kaito’s last response. “That’s unfortunate,” His lips fell back into a tight line, gaze searing a hole into the ground for how intensely Henry stared at it. It was an anchor; if he glanced up to Kaito for even a second, he was almost certain he’d vomit. Emotional turmoil never did settle well with him physically. Feeling everything, when you were so used to feeling nothing at all - or at least convincing himself that, what was past should be left there, and nobody would really matter in the end, that the world was nothing but chaos and destruction and you couldn’t afford to let people in anymore…
He hadn’t even noticed his blurred vision. A barely inaudible gasp hissed through his teeth as he felt a trickle of saline roll down his cheek, white-knuckled grip tightening deep into the pale flesh of his clay-dusted arms. His lips parted, but all he could elicit was a broken sob before slapping a hand over his mouth, head shaking back and forth violently. Maybe Kaito could even make out the muffled, ’I’m sorry’ through the trembling digits.
The wretched sob tearing from Henry’s throat had Kaito surging forward reflexively, fully intending to comfort his old friend in the only way the alpha knew how; with a warm embrace. But that wouldn’t help the situation any and the anger overwhelmed his instincts to protect and nurture, forcing the wolf into a cautious backward step that created more space between the two. It was harrowing to watch the Wendigo fall apart before him; his voice hoarse with agony as he made himself smaller against the shelf. He seemed so fragile and broken, desperately in need of comfort the Alpha wished he could provide. The sight alone had guilt welling inside Kaito quicker than he could tamp down on the emotion and he pressed his lips together into a grim line—if only to silence himself. He felt powerless but unwilling to stand back and observe while the other fell apart.
Henry’s despondency was deeply concerning for Kaito, leaving goosebumps crawling along the flesh of the Alpha’s arms and sending an icy cold shiver trailing the length of his spine. He couldn’t bear it and wished to scrub himself clean of the feeling, but that would be selfish and standing back, simply watching a friend's painful plight was not something he could. Even one that'd betrayed him to Henry's extent. Turning on his heel, Kaito left the room without a single utterance and hurried towards the kitchen of the small building to collect a glass of water for the other. He knew if the situation were reversed, Henry wouldn’t hesitate to seek the nearest exit and leave him so far in the dust, he was but a mirage within seconds. But Kaito wasn’t Henry and the weight of responsibility sat heavily on his shoulders. The Wendigo had once been pack—even if only adopted—and Kaito swore to protect to him at all costs, including to the detriment of his own health. He would see that promise through, regardless of what it entailed.
Catching a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror above the kitchen sink, the Alpha almost didn't recognize himself. He looked world-weary, exhaustion seeping into his eyes and diminishing the ever present spark. Only hours before he’d enjoyed a daily run through the forest, his cheeks tinged a healthy pink with exertion by the time he was done and an immovable smile set on his lips. In the space of mere minutes, his entire world had been turned on its head, leaving him struggling to cope with the fallout. His past sure was biting him in the ass. Exhaling heavily, Kaito shook himself clear of wayward thoughts and walked back into the room where Henry slouched and held the glass out towards him. “Here, drink this. You’ll feel better.”
littlest-clemonte:
“Team work makes the dream work. Of course making a mess is part of the fun plus it’s not so bad picking up because once you’re done you can actually treat yourself to what you made. Hm I like to make donuts or Carmel apples.”
“That’s exactly right. We could be a dream team in the kitchen, especially if you ply me with some of those donuts as you make them. I’m good on a sugar rush. Work faster and harder.”
carmenakerman:
Carmen chuckled, “Humans? Probably. Us? No. The ring? A cult classic in this realm.” She had seen it a while ago, not really understanding the horror aspect but she supposed it made sense for humans. Carmen looked down at her water bottle, her gaze landed on him as he spoke, and while he had he owns reasons for being there, they made all to much sense. “Oh? What is tonight?” She questioned, brows knitted together in confusion and curiosity. Her gaze softens slightly at the mention of his birthday, age didn’t matter much when you were a supernatural being. Time was different for one, but the war was stripping them of anything and everything they could find joy in and she could feel sympathy for that alone. “Oh, we should celebrate…like right now? Got plans for the night?” She questioned with a playful smile. Although it faded as she began to speak, “too many familiar faces lately, it just reminds me that I can never go back. It’s ruined and I don’t even know who to be mad at anymore. It’s just ruined and we can’t go back.” Her tone was defeated and tired. “So, that birthday?” She had no idea if she was doing this more for herself or him.
He was nodding before Carmen had even finished speaking, a subtle smile caressing his lips. “Exactly that. I am partial to a bit of horror every now and again, yeah. That The Ring wasn’t the best, but it entertained me for a couple of hours. You seen the new one though? Rings?” A hiss broke through his clenched teeth as he shook his head and met the woman’s eyes. “It’s a car wreck of the worst kind. Truly a crappy piece of film,” he spoke quietly, almost regretfully while he raised the bottle to his lips and took another drink. He didn’t like to speak ill of anyone, even some random directors movie; after all, for all he knew it was his directorial debut. “Tonight is… not a great one. But we can change that, yeah? Care to join me in a drink… something harder than your water anyway,” he said, pointing at the bottle of H20 in her hand. “You shouldn’t mourn the things you’ve had, you should celebrate the things you have,” he spoke firmly, with a nod, like he was trying to convince himself as much as Carmen. “We’re alive and where there is life, there is hope.”
jacksoncarver:
At one point in his life, Jack had been very keen on creating conflict. But, as his life had quieted and dulled, so too had his desires for unnecessary violence—there was enough going on without him mowing down every creature in sight. Back in that less controlled part of his life, he had no doubts that his venture into werewolf territory would’ve been entirely intentional, meant to goad a defensive attack from the lycanthropes and take the bodies of their fallen for himself. Now, his trespassing was entirely accidental—he’d already made a mental note to avoid this part of the woodlands in the future, lest he put a larger target on his back. There would always be other creatures to hunt, ones in areas where the battle lines weren’t drawn as clearly. “What’s the difference?” he asked, cocking a brow. He’d been under the impression that hideous and terrifying were more similar than not. Was it even possible to be an attractive monster? Without wearing a particularly good-looking human disguise, Jack still doubted it. “Either way, I’m not something people want to spend time looking at.” No, it was much easier to turn tail and run before the heavy scent of death sent them into convulsions. That was, if his horrible, half-rotted appearance didn’t do that on its own. “I, uh…” He trailed off, unsure of how to even begin to answer Kaito’s question. Was he? Absolutely. Was it wise to admit that? Judging by the way the alpha’s jaw jumped, he doubted it. Instead, he offered a nod and decided ignoring the question would do him more good—clearly Kaito’s experiences had been less than pleasant with his kind. It was to be expected, of course… not many claimed to befriend a cannibal. “I was a warlock… kind of,” he admitted, grimacing slightly. “Closer to human than most, I guess…”
“Not in your less appealing form, no. I imagine people would turn tail and run at the first sight of you like that… don’t imagine they’d get very far though,” he mused, bringing the bottle to his lips and taking a long drink of his beer. Jack didn’t look the type that lacked confidence, but listening to him speak, one couldn’t draw any other conclusion. “I’m just saying, man… when you’re looking like this, you’re an attractive man. I don’t know what you look like when you’re fully changed or whatever, but as you are now, you’re good looking. What, you want me to lie to you? Isn’t beauty in the eye of the beholder?” Kaito looked the other man over, contemplating their conversation thus far. He’d never met anyone in Bright Haven who didn’t carry some kind of ego and bravado, Jack was an enigma. “A warlock? I’m aware of them, but… not really what it is that they do. Not fully. I usually don’t ask when I meet others too much about their species, seems… intrusive. So you don’t have to share more if you don’t wanna…” as his words trailed off, Kaito sent a sincere smile the others way and reached across the space separating them to slap his palm down onto Jack’s thigh lightly. He was generally rather demonstrative, seeking to reassure at every single turn and figured it was all part and parcel of being the Alpha of his pack. His father was the same way when he was growing up, showing him the ropes and teaching him what it took to be a true Alpha. Always made his brother jealous and drove a wedge between the siblings. Their rivalry ran deeper than most. Shaking off the memories with a roll of his shoulders to relax his muscles, Kaito stood and reached over the bar top, stretching himself taut across the counter and grabbing two fresh beers for them before returning to his seat. “What’s the grossest or weirdest being you ever met? Ooh, or scariest.”
leilabeauvais:
Leila shouldn’t find it so amusing to see how clearly irritated Kaito was getting. She was just… terrible. Just terrible. But she sighed in relief nonetheless, more than happy that he did lay off. “I get it. But… heartbreaks are annoyingly commonplace. And it’s not like I haven’t had that in my lifetime. And… if he were to break my heart, I know it’ll pass. Things pass. But yes, for his sake, I hope he doesn’t make the dumb mistake and break my heart because you’d totally destroy him!” She smiled, looking over to the bar and nodded. Leila happily, with a bounce in her step, made her way right over to it. “I want… a piña colada, please! It’s my go-to anyway. Oh, wait! Can I really tell you?! Do you really wanna know?!” She asked, looking up at him hopefully.
Dropping his head back with an aggrieved sigh when Leila sauntered over towards the bar, Kaito prayed for the strength needed to carry out their conversation. He didn’t particularly want to know about the younger wolf’s love life, but he’d said he’d listened and he was a man of his word. Walking along at the others back, the Alpha rounded the end of the bar and started making Leila’s desired drink, his gaze drifting back towards the girl who was very much like a daughter to him. “I’m overbearing, I know. But it’s better than me not caring at all, right?” He asked, a smile lighting up his face. “Yeah, I really wanna know. Feel free to tell me anything that you want. I can handle it, I promise… scouts honour.” He joked and raised a hand, attempting to mimic the sign of said club.
rowanceliis:
– “Alright, makes sense,” Rowan grinned, taking the pint glass carefully and brought it to the tap. He pulled down and let the beer flow into the glass at an angle so not too much foam created but enough bubbled up so that it still had that classic ‘beer mug’ look. Once he was done, he pulled it away and handed it to Kaito. “How’d I do, bossman?”
Kaito watched his friend, admittedly impressed by just how quickly he seemed to adapt to the situation. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think Rowan had worked behind a bar before. Grinning widely, he accepted the perfectly poured pint and brought it to his lips for the ultimate test, sipping past the foam to get at the amber liquid within then shooting a hand up, thumb extended to show his approval.
– Thanos wasn’t really one to care about others, but sometimes, once in a blue moon, he found himself feeling considerate in some way. Though, this arguably could be a selfish visit to Kaito, he had still texted ahead of time, warning that he was bringing presents and wine for the man. And maybe treats of other sorts if Kaito was up for it. It had almost been a month since his birthday had occurred and everyone deserved a little bit of celebration after all. At least that’s what Thanos thought. He arrived at the home and rang the doorbell, wondering if he’d have to wait long for the man to welcome him in.
@fykaito
Kaito hadn’t been expecting Thanos to contact him with regards to his birthday which had passed recently, but leave it to the blonde to find a way to remember an offhand comment about his approaching thirty-third and find a way to spend some alone time with the Alpha at his home again. He had to admire his tenacity. Grinning to himself, he shook his head and strolled towards the front door, preparing to have a belated birthday celebration with Thanos. “Hi,” he sing-songed at his friend as he pulled the door wide and stepped aside to let the man in. “You really didn’t have to do this, you know~”
