Jonny Sr. and his wife deserved a Mr. & Mrs. Black Storyline.
Her father is telling her to kill Jonny Sr. because he's working on cases of their crimes, and the police are telling him to kill/arest her because she's a member of the mafia and is way more involved than showed. (I don't think that dogs are the only living beings dying through her hands.) And then they would fall in love again because of the adrenaline and the time they "spend together" and get to know eachother again and they would meet in the middle and both be morally grey, neither being in the police nor mafia. And nobody would die, and they could be better parents again!
I mean, they obviously had an exciting love story in the beginning, falling in love in spite of her family and him learning to be a cop.
I headcanon that they met growing up in a poorer neighbourhood, where the mafia is stronger, and after becoming a cop he let a few smaller crimes slip, like selling smuggled cigarettes, petty theft because the family had no money and the owner of the shop was an ass, or hitting someone "who deserved it". They had similar morals, but then, after some time, her father wanted more power and started with murder and shit and Jonny Sr. started arest her family even for smaller crimes, so their relationship became more and more toxic because they still loved each other but couldn't understand why the other was doing what they were doing.
So if they would just meet in the grey middle of morals, they could fall in love again with the person they fell in love with when they were younger.
