15) Ten Duel Commandments - Do you have a motto or code you live by?- I tend to live by the “You only get one life, so why not live it?” motto. I don’t want to look back on my life when I’m 80 and wonder why I didn’t do anything to enjoy the life I had. So I actively enjoy. Also, I tend to live by a code of helping others, standing up for what I believe in, and open communication. Also, consent is a thing, and it’s important. Those are major code-y things.

32) One Last Time - Where do you want to retire to?- I just answered that one like 30 seconds ago. Look there? :)

49) No John Trumbull - Do you work better alone or in groups?- Hi my name is Amber and I like people. I definitely tend to work better in groups than alone, and particularly when we can all brainstorm together, too.

52) Congratulations - What is the biggest thing you’ve ever had to give up?- I think the biggest thing I ever had to give up was my pride, during any time where I reached a point that I couldn’t do something alone... and had to ask for help. I’m bad at asking for help. As for biggest thing I’ve had to give up materialistically? Not sure I’ve had to give up many things materialistically, because I don’t have a lot of large possessions?

51) One Last Ride - What’s your favorite line in a song?- So... I don’t have a good memory, and don’t often recall lyrics off the top of my head. But one song resonates with me a lot, particularly with the lyrics. And it’s Crash and Burn by Savage Garden...

39) Blow Us All Away - Have you ever fired a gun?- Yes. Rifles and shotguns. I used to be on the rifle team in my high school, and shot rifles competitively versus the teams at other schools. I was actually pretty darned good at it!

32) One Last Time - Where do you want to retire to?- I’m not sure I have a ‘place’? I talk about wanting to settle in either Colorado, Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco... but I’m not horribly tied to either one. Also, I am almost certain I’ll be horrible at retirement. I’ll retire from one job, but I’ll just go do other jobs anyways, simply because I like helping.

26) Take a Break - What’s the farthest distance you’ve ever traveled from home?- I think the cruise I took in 2007 that went to Jamaica and the Grand Cayman Islands is the farthest I’ve gone? 

20) Yorktown - What is your greatest accomplishment?- I think my greatest accomplishment is hard for me. I think of all the things I’ve done as... things I’ve done? Not particularly amazing or accomplish-y? Ummm... I think that my biggest accomplishment is probably moving to Denver when I was 16. I got a job and raised enough money to move myself here when nobody else could do it for me. And I then hit the ground running to built a new life for myself. I have made it farther now than I ever thought I would get when I was 16 years old.

9) A Winter’s Ball - Do you consider yourself attractive?- The short answer? I find my mental aspects attractive, but only parts of my physical aspects. There are aspects of myself I find attractive: my hair, my face, my eyes, my shoulders, my forearms, my chest, and my calves. Things I don’t find attractive: my chin(s), my stomach, my groin, my thighs, my upper arms, my hands, my ankles, and my feet. I think that I am an attractive person as a whole, and that involves including my brains and my personality along with my looks. I have an attractive personality, and I love being able to share my thoughts with others. I find these to be attactive things. But ‘attractive’ is often also tied to physicality, and my body type is not what is typically advertised as ‘attractive’, and I know my body type isn’t for everyone. But I think the more I date around and the more I find people who DON’T find this body type attractive, the more I wonder if I’m just... not attractive. And people tell me all the time to ‘not care’ what others think, and to ‘love your body as you are’. Yeah, that’s harder in practice, first of all. Though I’ve been trying to kinda ‘fake it until I make it’ in a sense, telling myself how awesome I look even when I don’t feel it, and hoping one day I believe it.18) Guns and Ships - What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? - I’m not a very materialistic person, so most of my favorite gifts are memories or intangible things I can take with me. I will say that I have a silly attachment to a Princess Leia wallet I was given as a gift, and it really should be repaired. But I don’t want it out of my sight or reach long enough to repair it. so I need to figure out what to do. It makes me happy. But the gifts I’m really enamored by are little things. When Vady calls me ‘Brother’ and I realize I’m close enough with a person to have silly nicknames like that. When Dawn (or some other friends, too, but Dawn does it more than anyone I know) randomly messages me to tell me how strong I am and how cherished I am. I don’t know if she realizes just how wonderful it feels to hear those words from someone I myself admire. I even had a coworker tell me they admired me, and explained why. It was so out of the blue, but it felt good. When friends invite me to cosplay groups and involve me. Those are some of the best gifts I feel I’ve gotten, because they breed amazing memories I take with me forever.

27) Say No to This - What is your opinion on prostitution?- This is a complicated question. I have plenty of friends who are sex workers, and I respect their decisions to work in that field. I don’t inherently find the act of participating in sexual acts in return for payment to be wrong. However if the person performing these acts for money isn’t doing so by choice (such as with human trafficking?), yeah that’s horrible and wrong. And taking advantage of people who are too young to understand what they’re agreeing to? To me, that’s just as bad as not having consent.

36) Hurricane - Have you ever experienced a natural disaster?- I think the closest I have come is sleeping through an earthquake when I was a kid. And helping in the aftermath of The Black Forest Fires in Colorado. Also, helping with the relief efforts after the tornado in Windsor, CO. Though as I think about this, I wondered if ‘shootings’ are natural disasters. But nope, they’re not ‘natural’, so those don’t count.

45) The World Was Wide Enough - Are you a forgiving person?- I say yes to this. I don’t know of many grudges I can recall having held? 1: it takes too much energy to hold a grudge. 2: I have a tendency to see multiple sides to most situations, and this leads me to often understanding points of view. I an be upset about the situation, but that level of understanding makes it hard to stay mad long.

54) Cabinet Battle #3 - Is there something you know you’re hypocritical about?- I’ve never really thought about it? Ummm... I was a homeless person, but I get easily frustrated with panhandlers? Does that count? Ummm... there are things I know I like to receive, but I don’t like to give... which I think is hypocritical? Not sure I feel comfortable publicly admitting to some of them, but I know they exist.
