Maybeeee in Analyst? 👀 if you had to give a "character analysis" of Izuku for example? You mentioned anger for Yamada and omg they BOTH need an screaming room I think 🤣
HELLLOOOO, as much as i love word vomiting, i love my fingers not cramping more LMAO so basically i’ll break down why izuku acts the way he acts toward yamada/aizawa versus the parlor folks, then go a bit into hizashi and my characterization of him :)
the parlor itself is kind of an allegory for unhealthy relationships between people with power and younger individuals, even despite not having direct ill intent toward the younger party (in this case, izuku).
the only reason it’s not considered full-on grooming is intent, but that doesn’t negate the impact the environment has on an impressionable, distressed teenager.
the parlor is full of people with complex issues of their own, and none of them are able to understand that, as older—dare i say parental—-figures, they have a responsibility not to let their own unhealthy habits (for example, alcoholism and smoking) fall onto the child who is basically in their care.
because of this, there’s a very large gap in izuku’s mental age, which is why he’s so maladjusted when it comes to how adults should act.
though izuku is physically fifteen, he’s surrounded by people who can’t decide whether to treat him like a kid or like a colleague/adult.
they see izuku’s talent for analysis, which is well above the average teenager’s, and because of that they start viewing him less as a child who needs guidance and more as someone capable of existing on their level.
but izuku isn’t on their level emotionally. he’s still a vulnerable teenager looking for stability, validation, and somewhere to belong.
so when he gets put in a situation with aizawa and yamada, who are healthier adults by comparison, there’s a disconnect. izuku genuinely does not know how to react to adults setting boundaries, worrying about him properly, or trying to parent him in ways that don’t involve treating him as “useful.”
meanwhile, the parlor folks do care about izuku in their own way, which is what makes the situation complicated. they aren’t malicious people trying to hurt him. but care without responsibility can still be damaging, especially when a child is involved.
i interpret his violent nature (because he IS violent) as more of a manifestation of intrusive thoughts rather than an actual desire to cause harm.
as someone who has struggled with harm OCD, i saw a bit of my own experiences reflected in him and in the ways he processes emotion. hizashi is, at his core, a very kind-hearted person, but the accumulation of grief, intrusive thoughts, stress, and his naturally hotheaded personality can bleed through that gentleness and come out in ways that seem disproportionate.
when his aggression shows up, it isn’t meant to come across as cruelty or genuine malice. it’s more impulsive emotional overflow — thoughts and reactions that scare him just as much as they affect the people around him.
so in simpler terms: hizashi is someone whose emotions are very loud, and because he feels things so intensely, the uglier parts of his mind can surface outwardly even when they don’t reflect who he truly is as a person, but as he’s grown, he’s better at keeping these thoughts to himself, but leaking out when given the chance
