In the show, Sansa apologized to Jon for being "awful" to him while they were growing up at Winterfell. While that might have been the case in the show, it's not the same for the books. But I've seen book readers cite this scene as evidence.

There's a lot of holes in that theory - for one thing, we don't have any flashbacks or textual evidence to support it. Sansa calling Jon her half-brother doesn't cut it. Arya is the closest to Jon so obviously she is going to know what's going on with him. And yet she doesn't think (as far as I recall) back to all the times in Winterfell that Sansa was supposedly "awful" to Jon.

However another flaw is Jon's response. He tells Sansa that he couldn't have been much fun, "always skulking in the corner while the rest of you played." Except for the fact that in the books, Bran for example remembers all of them playing together. So basically, you can't use the show to argue that Sansa was horrible to Jon in the books (am I saying they were super close, no) when Jon's response right here contradicts the books themselves

It’s really fascinating how the asoiaf fandom can read about ice zombies who can create a freaking ice age wherever they go, dragons, shadow assassin creatures, and more importantly, several other teenagers and children who are also unusually skilled, and never bat an eyelid over this, but somehow, the very same people just have to draw the line at Sansa being proficient at politics. When it comes to Sansa suddenly this fandom demands realism. Like always, this fandom has a sky-high standards towards Sansa that doesn’t apply to other characters.

I noticed that everyone who insists that Sansa just has too much to do in the Vale to ever return to Winterfell never actually says what Sansa is going to be doing in the Vale besides becoming Lady Paramount of the Vale despite not having Arryn blood. Sansa’s Vale storyline is one of the least explored storylines in the entire series. You would think people who want her to stay there (for her own good of course of course) would write meta and fanfics about Alayne Stone’s adventures but no, there’s very little content.

It’s almost like they’re not sincere. It’s almost like they’re just hoping she never makes it to the North because they know there’s a very strong possibility that she’ll be crowned queen

i haven’t really been on here for like a year (?) but sometimes i just remember how much i love sansa stark as a character. and i have to come back and scroll through the tag and....... i just get so nostalgic lord!! i used to get so excited talking about her when the show was still on and i just loved all the speculating and analyzing and everything. even DESPITE the godforsaken discourse around her coming from certain parts of the fandom. i love her so much but honestly the last season just ruined so much for me. and now i still get upset when i occasionally happen to see some sansa slander on twitter or something. same kinda with the forever-d*ny-defenders who just have a chip on their shoulders forever now bc they believe the last season completely obliterated her character and that it wasn’t originally what was supposed to happen or something. i’ve blocked more than a few people just bc of that ”d*ny did nothing wrong” defense and funnily enough they always turn out to be awful people in the long run - and not so feminist after all; surprise surprise. i wouldn’t care at all that people like her character but i’m so tired of the ”d*ny is a feminist hero” narrative. and ignoring the racist aspects of her arc is and should be a whole issue on its own obviously.

anyway the point of this ramble is to say i’m kinda sad that the show ended and it ended the way it did, as tired as it is to bring this up again. i still love sansa and she is one of my all-time favorite characters and i miss talking about her. but i also never wanna get into a fandom the way i did with GOT - it honestly wasn’t completely healthy for me. i now have new shows that i love (like lucifer) but i’ve decided that i will not go near the fandom (or the discourse to be more specific) for my own peace of mind. i learned so much from people during my GOT fandom days but i just can’t do it anymore.

(ironically enough i also got into my dream school the year after the show ended which i took as some kind of a sign honestly LMAO. like i’m not saying it prevented me from getting in before but i’m saying i did spend way too much time agonizing over the show during season 8 for example when i shouldve been studying for the entrance exams)

do you realize that sansa is just SO powerful that she orchestrated mycah’s murder just by saying she doesn’t remember what happened! her word is the gospel so obviously it didn’t really matter what some crown prince said, what everyone really wanted to know was what sansa thought happened. and since she didn’t absolve mycah (cause that was in her power) it was a direct death sentence for him. can you believe it?? an 11-year-old girl didn’t detail what happened between a prince and a butcher’s boy and that way intentionally set up that boy’s tragic fate. it really was like a scene straight from the gladiator; everyone was holding their breath, gagging for sansa to show a thumbs up or down. no one really does murder like the queen in the north!!

you’re right! it’s been a while since i’ve read the books and i kept seeing “sansa was complicit in mycah’s demise bc she stayed silent” which obviously altered my memory as well lol. this is why i should keep in mind that lots of sansa‘s “critics” don’t even stick to the facts in the first place. thanks for adding this!

lmao they really don’t. or what they read just doesn’t fit their narrative of sansa being either the mastermind behind or - at the very least - “complicit” in the murders of various different people. honestly i just keep seeing the take “sansa is silent in the face of evil” and i’m exhausted.
