This is truly a classic. THERE IS REASONS WHY IT IS ONE.
The writing is truly immaculate. The way George Orwell builds tension is so beautifully done that it truly made my skin crawl and my ribs tighten in anticipation.
Not only that, but the quiet foreshadowing of Animal Farm's slow corruption. Hidden problems slowly brewing from underneath, I was truly astonished at how well it paralleled the real world, not only to the USSR but also to the US.
Though I did have a quiet anger about how they talked about the eggs. It was funny because the hens stated, "that to take eggs away now was murder," and another statement from Major at the start of the book was,"...you hens, how many eggs have you laid in this last year, and how many of those eggs ever hatched into chickens?" I would say that it is a big myth that the eggs that we eat are not fertilized, meaning they would've never been a chicken in the first place. Only a fertilized egg would be a chicken, and those are not the ones we eat.
Though I would point out that my argument might be wrong and that maybe the farmers take all the eggs, even the fertilized ones. A fertilized egg and a nonfertilized egg have no changes in safety, taste, etc. Though they do have a slight visible difference, it could be that the farmer's main priority was food instead of just raising more chickens.

The book truly inspired me, made me want to make a short story myself. Where the story would be an analogy that parallels issues in the real world. Sort of like Fujimoto's work in his one-shots.
The idea I have in mind would be set in a lower working-class area. There's this raw food material that is super addictive and potent. When someone eats it, they go into a trance-like state. Though when crushed and in less concentrated forms, they can be safely eaten by everyone. Anyways, the MC works around the raw material all the time; they sniff, they inspect, they touch. Even though their body and mind desire to take a small bite, they would never do so because it would be wrong. Though they have heard how wonderful it is and how many people have gotten addicted to it, they still would rather not, even though their minds yearn for it.
Though one day, they had been isolated in a circumstance where a piece of such raw material was in front of them. They were alone; no one was watching them. At first, they are repulsed by the idea of eating it, but then they reconsider, thinking to themselves, "Maybe the universe is allowing me to eat it because I've been so good." Hesitantly, they take a bite. The texture, the taste, all so immaculate. Though the best part would be the hit on the brain, the MC would be in a high state where it would feel so wonderful. They would gluttonously chow down on that piece of raw material and be in a haze for hours.
When they become conscious of what they did, they become extremely guilty. Though their bodies desire the substance even more. The feeling of wanting to claw your skin off your flesh sort of desire. They were anguished by their body for weeks, until they had enough. Impulsively, they broke into a crate full of the raw food. They ate selfishly, unable to control themselves, in their own haze. They stumble themselves into the same machine that produces the less potent food. Soon being distributed among the people as their little supplements, unknowingly to everyone else.
