hi friends it’s time to break all our hearts again.
i wanna talk about a certain quote of varian’s. at first, it just seems like a cute, almost whimsical sort of proclamation that only he would say. it shows his innocence and naivete with science and his propensity to try anything, no matter what the consequences are. however, look deeper into the words, match them with what varian’s already experienced, and you will uncover some seriously sad feels. i’m talking about:
“so we didn’t get the reaction we’d hoped.”
“at least we GOT a reaction!”
varian is so starved for attention that he will literally try anything for his father’s attention. contrary to popular belief, varian is actually aware that he’s creating problems and making mistakes (”maybe i make things a mess…”). however, even from the very start, the very moment he was introduced, varian doesn’t care that he’s causing chaos. in fact, he lets it happen. why so? because causing mass-scale destruction (or fixing the town plumbing, whatever comes first, doesn’t really matter), is literally the only thing that will get his father’s attention.
and at the end of the day, that’s the main thing varian cares about. that his father acknowledges his existence, even if the reaction is not the one he’d hoped for. sure, everything in his being wants to make his father proud and do good things. but anger is only one degree away from pride, and varian will take anything he can get.
Redrawing some old fake screenshot with Zoria new design <3 Original from 2020 below the cut!
idk if anyone would be interested in what i plan for Zoria's role in season 2 (nothing too plot-changing but she happens to be there) or maybe her dynamic with each member of the crew
How would your TTS oc, Zoria look throughout the series, like does her outfit change overtime or does her personality shift along the way each season?
Thx for your question anon!! <3
Both answers is yes! For her outfit, she has one per season, a special winter outfit for Queen for a Day, and a last one for the time Rapunzel & the crew spent on the Island during their journey :)
Up to now I've only drawn her season 1 and season 2 ouftits
At first, I wanted to keep the purple tone for her season 2 outfit as well, but I like color-coded characters, Rapunzel is already purple so I couldn't let her stay in purple for contrast purposes if she spends season 2 with Raps and the crew </3 but green suits her as well! :)
For her season 3 outfit I don't know yet if I stick with green or if I go back to purple... In her first design (back in 2019) her outfit was basically a purple recolor of Varian's outfit eh- I want my kids to match so I probably go with a light-steampunk vibe like Varian, but with colder tone!!
As for her personality!! It mostly goes like this:
Season 1: she stays with Varian 24/7, her personality mostly revolves around helping and assisting him. She wants to be helpful to people... She tries her best to be a good girl, perfect in her dad's eyes so he would have less expectation toward Varian. For most of season 1, she mostly restrained her true personality in sake of others.
Season 2: So, she gets enrolled in Raps's crew to travel to the Dark Kingdom. She has a hard time opening up to others at first and she hardly knows how to work on her own. She's like. Big into the impostor syndrom. But at the end of the day, the journey is a great occasion for her to discover more about herself. I think she'd become more assertive and be less likely to follow others blindly, she wouldn't hesitate to share her opinion, ...
Season 3: The twins are back together <3 Zoria's personality would mostly evolve the same way it did through season 2. But both twins'll have to learn how to interact again together, bc they both changed so much in the span of one year!! But overall their relationship is healthier and more balanced after a bit of time apart to learn and grow <3
I missed doing fake screenshot so much <3 really proud of how it turned out!

The biggest interest of zoria joining the crew for season 2 is definitely how she might be able to learn more about her family history. I REALLY want her to meet Adira... <3 At first, she'd be suspicious of her, wondering why would Quirin never tell the twins about the Brotherhood etc. But remembering how he was definitely keeping things from them, she'd eventually trust her.
At this moment, Adira is what's the closest to a family for Zoria so she would try to bond with her somehow. That girl's just emotionally lost, far from home and without the brother she'd always leaned on, Adira somewhat gives her a new anchor.
The journey is the occasion for Zoria to learn to stand on her own. At Corona, she was just kinda always following Varian around, so now she can learn about who she is when she actually has to make decision for herself. She'd ask Adira to teach her sword fighting, wanting to rely less on others (girl you're 14 it's gonna be alright </3) I think Zoria would aspire to become more like Adira :)
