therapy speak and everyone having perfect communication methods at all times in fiction is something i get the impetus behind but can never relate to because like. isn't the most fun part of writing to dig your grubby little fingers into your lil guy's neuroses and coming up with ways for them to do beautiful mental gymnastics and spiral themselves directly into space with the force of how their life experiences have made them inevitably incapable of parsing the situation in a healthy way. isn't the catharsis of them slowly untangling parts of it and being able to reach something like happiness more fulfilling when they start out at their most bullheaded and obtuse. don't you love it when characters DO understand each other but can't come to a fulfilling conclusion anyways because of their fundamentally different worldviews, but reach a compromise anyways because the love is there. have you never made your barbies do war crimes for fun as a child.
