Indonesia Blue Batak - Revolver Series of @coffeelabph . Tried with 3 different pourover brewing methods; the 102, V60, and the Nel drip (I did not count the espresso as I made caffe latte with this). . Out of the 3, I liked the Nel drip the most as it almost muted the licorice (I sort of not fancy licorice) yet highlighted some of the floral notes and small hint of sweetness as an after-taste. . These amazing robusta beans from Sulu, Philippines made my tongue haywire. One as floral notes and one has fruits in it. No grainy-wheaty nuances. Time to boost these artisanal beans! . These beans not only contribute to the greatness of coffee world, it also impacts the way people in Sulu lives. See, it is a conflit-ridden area. With the introduction of coffee, some have traded guns for farming, and the trade paid off with this overwhelming robusta. . I know that it is still a long road to the peace process in Sulu but there is coffee, uh I mean light (hehe!) at the end of the tunnel. . First time creating an espresso tonic. First time I tasted it too! Pretty nice I'd say. The quinine in the tonic brand is bitter though. . My recipe: • 1 shot of espresso (I used 10g coffee), preferrably citrusy coffee as this is good for iced drinks • 100ml tonic water (approx only) • 3 ice cubes • 1 lemon . What you need: • espresso machine or a moka pot • tall glass . Steps: Prepare your espresso. While waiting, get the tall glass and put in the ice cubes and the tonic water. The tall glass is important as the espresso will make the tonic water expand. Pour the espresso over the top of the iced tonic slowly. Squeeze and drizzle the lemon on top of the drink. Stir gently then serve. Enjoy! . Take note that the fizz disappears, sadly. This is a different topic though. Espresso blend, Kuppa Roastery . Brewed on a V60, 10g coffee to 150g water. . Citrusy aroma. Very citrusy taste! Very high in acidity! There's a kind of interval between tasting the citrus notes and the somewhat chocolate aftertaste. Leaves the tongue dry. . Zesty aftertaste becomes pronounced at the fifth minute. . I'd say I like this better than brewing it using an espresso machine. Nice! . Too sour for me at the 20th minute. . The best part of this experience is that @kupparoastery sells 100g bean bags!
