the personification of death being portrayed as deeply kind in fiction is something that reduces me to tears every single time
Garden of Death by Hugo Simberg is one of my favorite pieces of art for that very reason.
Life is a garden and Death is the caring gardener
there’s so much joy in living a private life. looking really pretty and not posting it, going to a new city and not telling anyone, getting a fancy dinner by yourself dressed up.... like it just feels like life.. i feel alive and less preformative
It’s more complicated than that. The parameters of healthiness or non-healthiness in a relationship, it’s completely senseless, when it comes to how we live our relationships in reality. Life is messy, relationships are messy. Everything is complicated, it’s not simplified. Could be beautiful, could be poetic, to live a life with another person, but it’s also going to be messy.
Luca Guadagnino for Rolling Stone (2020)
“I always resented all the years, the hours, the minutes I gave them as a working stiff, it actually hurt my head, my insides, it made me dizzy and a bit crazy — I couldn’t understand the murdering of my years yet my fellow workers gave no signs of agony, many of them even seemed satisfied, and seeing them that way drove me almost as crazy as the dull and senseless work.”

Everyone forgets the internet is first and foremost a diary… all those rudimentarily coded early aughts personal websites w pixel butterflies flitting across the screen aren’t elegies to social media’s history for nothing… modern day online etiquette wasn’t forged in chat rooms of the ‘90s for nothing… everything you say should only have to do w you, your sweet or sour or somber little life, and your friends… everything else is just noise
Posting on social media is basically performance art and its beautiful if you have a healthy relationship with it

“To see the world, to observe the manners of its people, is like a living book, a second education.”

making art is just like showering………can’t get up and do it, can’t stop when you’ve started. you want to crawl out of your skin if you don’t do it often enough. everything in the world is the exact same
