Sorry again for the lack of posts, I’ve been learning to drive for the past month or so and it’s been taking up most of my free time. I’ll try and get something up soon!
Louis trekked through the snow up the frozen mountain top, having followed Leo’s footprints left in the snow from the mistle. Leo was kneeling in the snow, his hands relaxed on his knees. He turned his head to face Louis with a warm smile. “Ah, my friend. Did you need something?” Louis walked up and stood next to him, crossing his arms. “Not particularly, I was just wondering where you had gone. The others said you went out here to the Ridge of Frozen Souls, but couldn’t say why.” Leo turned his head back to the horizon; the mountain’s peak had a great view of the surrounding snowy tundra and mountain ranges, contrasted only by the red mist. “I just wished to clear my head, Louis. I promised to aid you and the others, and I still intend to do so. It is simply good to take some time, relax yourself…be at peace, even if just for a moment.”
Louis gazed over the horizon, admiring the view. “I suppose so. I should probably return, though. There’s still a lot to be done.” He turned and began to traverse back down the mountain. “Are you sure you don’t wish to stay, Louis? I can practically feel your stress,” responded Leo. Louis stopped walking and turned back towards him. “I…I don’t know, Leo.” The Viking revenant continued to speak. “You carry a great weight on your shoulders, my friend. You all do. And I am happy to help share that weight,” He turned to face Louis again, this time with a more serious expression. “But you must find the time to rest yourself, to regain your strength, lest you crumble beneath the burden.”
Hesitating for a moment, Louis walked back up to the mountain’s peak and stood beside Leo once again. “Make yourself comfortable. The snow softens the ground somewhat here.” Louis got down onto his knees, ignoring the cold seeping through his clothing, laying his weapon beside him. “Now…close your eyes. Focus on the sound of the wind. The scent of the fresh air. The cold of the snow.” Louis did as Leo said, and closed his eyes. The light breeze carried with it the gentle chill of the ice-covered landscape. Farther down below, the wind carrying through the mountain bases and ruined buildings created a distant howling sound.
Louis took a deep breath. The air here was certainly fresh and cool, easier on the lungs than the stale air of the city center or Howling Pits. He exhaled slowly, allowing himself to relax for what felt like the first time in ages. “Peaceful, is it not?” Leo asked calmly. “It certainly is,” Louis responded, opening his eyes again. “Though if I’m being honest, meditation on a mountain’s peak isn’t something I expected you to do.” His friend chuckled in response. “That is true. I tend to find my peace in the midst of battle, like the berserkers of old.” He opened his eyes and got back to his feet, grabbing his axe and shield from the ground. “But sometimes it is necessary to take to a more…quiet environment, to clear your mind. After all, one’s mind is just as powerful a tool as any blade or shield.”
Louis stood up after him, picking up his weapon as well. “That’s right. Thank you, Leo.” Leo smiled and nodded before turning to leave the mountain. “Now then, I suppose we should head back to Home Base. The others are probably wondering where we have been. And, as you said, there is much to be done.”

Finally, I managed to get some more writing done! Sorry for the huge lack of posting. I’ve been somewhat busy lately, and been getting rather stressed out. But I wrote this short thing to try and get back into the swing of things! I’ll try to post more soon!
Sayonara 2020, and hello 2021! Let’s hope this fresh start is a sign of good things to come!
As for my work, I’m working on some more writing right now well, when I’m not playing Cyberpunk 2077, and I should hopefully have something up soon. When I do eventually post, make sure to let me know what you think; compliments, constructive criticism, suggestions, anything! It lets me know you’re interested in my writing and motivates me to keep going :D
I know my blog doesn’t get a ton of traffic because Code Vein isn’t as popular as it was, but I hope it’s enjoyable regardless!
Sorry for the delay in updates! Holiday season is fairly busy for me. I’ll try and post soon, in the meantime, Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Blessed Yule/whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year!
Warning: Spoilers for the “Heirs” Ending to Code Vein!
I got bored, so I made a simple edit of the Heirs Ending cutscene to show a transition of Leo from “normal” to his “King” form. The syncing isn’t perfect, partially due to some things in the cutscene not playing exactly the same twice (hair physics, for example)
MC takes a moment to regather their senses as the memory echo comes into focus. Their surroundings suggest that the memory currently takes place somewhere near the Ridge of Frozen Souls, as there is a slight frost built up on the ground and ruined buildings. After some searching, they discover Leo’s seemingly lifeless body leaned against a pile of rubble. Two ravens perch above, as if they were watching over him. This confuses the MC for a moment; as far as they were aware, there were not any birds to be found anywhere within Vein. Their thoughts were interrupted however as Leo began to stir with a groan. The ravens cawed and took to the air before shortly dispersing into a cloud of black mist.
Slowly opening his eyes, Leo gets himself on his feet, albeit with slight difficulty as his bones creak in protest from being still for so long. He dragged a hand across his face, brushing off the frost that had formed. Confused, he took in his surroundings, clutching his arm with his opposite hand as his muscles remained stiff from lack of movement. The area was silent, save for the wind blowing through the old concrete ruins. “What…where…am I…?” He took a few steps forward before stumbling to the ground coughing profusely. He took a moment to steady his breathing. “So thirsty…maybe there’s water around here somewhere…”
The area turns dark as large roots grow from the ground and lead to the next section of the memory echo. MC carefully walks along the roots and finds themselves near a flowing icy river deeper within the Ridge of Frozen souls. Leo kneels before the river, drinking the water collected in his hands. He lowers his hands and sighs in frustration. “This isn’t working…why am I still so thirsty? Feels like I’m going crazy…” Suddenly a group of three revenants appear, alarming Leo who had scrambled to his feet. “What the hell are you doing here? This is our territory!” The one in the front of the trio yelled at him, brandishing a bayonet. “Yeah! You’d better have some blood beads for compensation!” Another shouted from the back with a large sword. Leo gave them a confused look. “Blood…beads? I-I’m sorry, but I don’t understand-“ He was cut short when the revenant armed with a bayonet grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. “A new one, huh? We’ll put you to use then.” He shoved Leo towards the other revenants, causing him to lose his balance and fall. Leo coughed and tried to stand back up.
“What’s wrong, newbie?” taunted the third revenant, who was armed with a smaller one-handed sword. “Can’t handle a bit of rough treatment?” Leo whispered something under his breath, causing the hostile revenant to crouch down beside him. “What’s that? Speak up, newbie!” Seizing the opportunity, Leo struck him with his elbow, cracking his purifier mask. The revenant staggered backwards and dropped his weapon, which Leo quickly rolled over to and picked up before slashing at the revenant with the bayonet, but missed as he jumped out of the way. The revenant with the large sword came from behind, and before Leo could notice he cried out in agony as the sword painfully pierced through his abdomen. He clutched the edges of the sword as his breathing became more struggled, the fear of death filling him. The sword was ripped out of his body with a gush of blood and he fell to the snow. “Son of a…now I need a new mask…thank god the miasma isn’t as bad up here,” the revenant with the now cracked mask complained as Leo’s body dispersed.
At the next and final section of the memory echo, there was a lone mistle surrounded by snow and rubble. After a moment of waiting, Leo’s body reformed. He took a gasp of air and nearly lost his balance as he frantically looked around in fear and confusion. “I…what? I…I was certain I was d-dying, and now…?” He stopped short as his gaze fixed on the mistle that had just revived him. He seemed almost mesmerized by it as he took a step closer. He brushed the back of his hand against its branches, as if testing to make sure it was real. “Yggdrasil…” he whispered before kneeling in front of the mistle and muttering a quiet prayer.
The mysterious doorway that leads to the real world comes into view as the memory echo darkened.
-------------
Leo: “Those were my first moments as a revenant. Confusion, fear. I imagine many others were the same way upon their first awakening.”
“Normally, death is not something to be feared in my culture. Death is woven into all our threads by the Nornir, who control fate. It is inevitable. But I was not ready to die.”
“Then, as I thought my time had come, it seems the Nornir had a different fate in mind. I was pulled from the jaws of death and revived at the root of Yggdrasil, or ‘mistle’ as you call it.”
MC: “What is Yggdrasil?”
Leo: “Yggdrasil is the great ash tree that holds the universe in its branches and roots. It holds the nine realms, including our own. All that will live, and all that will fall, are connected to Yggdrasil.”
“Eventually, come Ragnarök, the tree will fall, leaving nothing but the primordial void. As if creation had never taken place.”
“Though, if you ask me…fate will never be written in stone.”
MC: “You believe fate can be changed, then?”
Leo: “Aye…but that’ll be a tale for another time.”
Just been very low energy lately, with not much motivation. Plus, I know that not a lot of people are as interested in Code Vein as I am, especially this long after its initial release. But I will continue to upload my stories/writings (when I actually finish them…) purely because I have really come to like how Leo has become as a character, and I just love writing about him still. Well that, and I still love Code Vein. (Fingers crossed for a sequel some day!)
Also, to add on to this; I hope those of you who still keep up with my work still enjoy it. I know I’m not the best writer, but I hope it’s enough for you to enjoy! On the plus side, I’m almost done with Part 2 of Leo’s vestiges; just need to revise it a little. Stay tuned! :)
Bloodied, battered, bruised; Yakumo had no strength left. His opponent and former friend, The King, had bested him. The shell of his comrade knocked him to the snow with the handle of his axe. “No, wait!” he cried, but his pleas fell on deaf ears as The King swung his weapon over his head and yelled in fury before brining it down with all his might. Then there was silence. Soon the crimson-soaked ground had already been covered by a fresh layer of ice and snowfall.

😆 for Yakumo? (I’m hoping I used the right laugh emoji, iOS emojis like to be weird sometimes)
[Leo walking out from a corner and is decked by yakumo with a pillow-]
😆 How do they make their s/o laugh?
Yakumo
• This dude right here can make people laugh, I just know it.
• He mostly tries to make jokes or puns when the time is right, but sometimes they do end up being somewhat cheesy or plain stupid which is actually what makes you laugh; the jokes are just so stupid you have to.
• I could see him trying to tickle you while cuddling with you. He does it often enough for you to question his intentions when he plays with you.
• Pranking you all the time! Innocent pranks of course, nothing dangerous or scary. Louis has banned him from anything that makes a big mess.
• But that doesnt stop you and him from messing with Louis-
• Okay despite Louis Benning him from making any messes, since Yakumo is the chief of the group, he has full rights to the kitchen and often times he smudges food on your face. Then you get back at him. Then he does it again. Then all of a sudden both of you are covered in food with tears in your eyes.
