Nari shook her head. “I’m doing just fine, thank you.” A small smile might have appeared on her face as he mentioned his healed ankle. “I’m glad you stopped being an idiot long enough to get it healed.” Breathing in the night’s cool, fresh air, she sighed. “I’m surprised. I thought this would be right up your alley. So many pretty faces, hoping to be asked to dance. Or have you already made your way through all of them?” 

“Good.” Leo said, stepping a little closer to her. “I’m not an idiot. I’m a genius. Get it right.” He joked. “Nah. This is a total drag. How am I supposed to get with a girl if she’s just seen me get with her friend a half hour before? It ruins my whole game.” He said, only half joking this time. “Besides, I’ve slept with most of the girls in there. There’s only a few I haven’t.”

“Maybe this is all part of my cunning plan!” Leo laughed, pouring himself a glass, and then taking hers and pouring another. He tossed back his glass instantly, filling it again and tossing that back, too. “Ahh. That’s more like it.”

When the dining hall became too hot and too crowded and too loud, Nari slipped out, her heels echoing in the empty halls. She opened the first door she came to, stepping outside onto the grounds. It was cold, which she found comforting, especially after being in the stuffy dining hall. She assumed it was too cold for most people, so it came as a surprise when someone joined her. “You’ll catch a cold,” was all she said. 

“I’m fine, don’t worry about it.” Leo said, gesturing to his leather jacket. As promised, he’d shown up to the dance in his leather jacket and jeans... The one formal thing being a white dress shirt. “How you doing? Not still beating yourself up about the mission, I hope.” He said. “Look, I even got my ankle healed!” He told her with a grin. He’d contemplated not getting it healed until after the dance, so he’d have an excuse not to go, but it had been way too irritating to keep for that long. “Aren’t you having fun at this lameass thing?”

“It is? Sweet!” Leo grinned, already making a beeline for the punch table. He’d considered bailing on this dumb dance half a dozen times already, but if he could get a little drunk, he knew it’d be a hundred times more bearable. “Want another, Genny?”

The blonde looked at him in confusion for a moment. “Uh, yes?” She didn’t understand how anyone couldn’t be excited over the idea of a dance. She was bursting with excitement, if she were being honest. “It’s not childish,” she insisted. “It’s something to unite us and provide some entertainment in a troubling time.” Letty laughed at his idea for how to spend his time at the dance. “That sounds like a fantastic way to spend the night, actually. Because all of us girls really need you to constantly remind us how hot you are,” she replied, a teasing tone in her voice. 

“Entertainment in the form of other people’s terrible dancing?” Leo asked, raising an eyebrow at her skeptically. “It’s childish as hell. They might as well call it a fuckin’ disco and give out those glow stick bracelets and headbands that you get at elementary school dances. And then they’d do the whole ‘boys on one side, girls on the other side’ thing and force us to pair up. It’s gonna happen either way.” He pulled a face. He wasn’t exactly a fan of romance or mushy-gushy cheesy shit. “Hey, it’s not my fault I’m irresistibly sexy.” Leo said, pulling off his sweaty shirt and tossing it in her general direction.

“Let’s hope so.” Leo said, stretching out his sore muscles. “I’ll probably bring in a flask. That way I get drunk no matter what happens, spiked punch bowl or not.” He grinned. “Hey, you said it, not me. But, I do have to agree with you there. I’m flattered that you think I’m so hot.” He said playfully, slinging his arm around her shoulders. “Ya could’ve just told me, Rosie.”

“Oh, I’m totally so excited.” Leo said in a monotone. “Please. All the girls are already wetting their panties about finding dates. Everyone is going to pair up. I’m sure of it.” He told her. “I don’t dress up.” He rolled his eyes. “I know you will. Save a dance for me, eh?” He winked.

He takes in a long moment before realizing that this conversation was annoying the beejezus out of him - probably one of the reasons he never quite left his room in the first place. “Oh my GOD,” JD groans from behind his mask. “I know you probably think the world revolves around your dick and that it’s God’s gift to mankind, honestly,” He waves in the air. “I wish I had your self-esteem, really, it’s outstanding, being a straight dude must feel amazing.” James snorts sardonically and mildly angered. “Oh forgive me, I’m so truly sorry for not having a pretty cute power and turn into some cute house animal, my bad how couldn’t I possibly think it’d be so inconvenient for everyone else, I am so so sorry.” His voice is high pitched with annoyance as he snaps at Leo. “Yeah that’s right, walk on.”   

“Yeah. It feels pretty good, actually.” Leo said, ignoring the malice in JD’s tone as always. “I mean, that’s a pretty high compliment, but yeah, my dick is pretty bomb, so I’ll have to agree with you on that one.” He grinned. “Hey, I don’t just turn into a cute animal.” He said firmly, shifting quickly from lion to tiger to jaguar to lynx and then back to human form. “And that’s not all.” He said, extending his claws. “So don’t trash talk me. I’m sure I can hold my breath long enough to pulverize you.” With that, he turned and began to walk away again, fingers curling and extending at his sides.

I hardly think the powers that be at Xavier’s would have accepted you onto the team if they thought of you as a child. I’ve never been thought of as a child. By anyone.” It was a true enough statement. When he repeated his reason for not getting healed, Nari removed her had from his face. “If that’s the case, then I suppose I shouldn’t help you manage your pain. If that’s what’ll remind you that you’re an idiot.” She said it in her usual cold tone, but there was a small smile on her face.

“Are you kidding? Having a child is the biggest responsibility you can get! You have to look after a helpless person for the next eighteen years. You have to teach them everything they know, and make sure they don’t become a terrible person. If that doesn’t make you an adult, then I don’t know what does.” Leo shook his head. He laughed a little at her comment about the powers that be at Xavier’s. “I’m pretty sure they just let me in because they didn’t want a mutant going around robbing people.” He told her. “And because I like to fight.” He shrugged. “Hey, a second ago it was your fault that I was in this pain!” Leo argued, grinning.
