#FBF to when I️ was just a young lad in college playing my first own mics at the Applesauce Teahouse in Flagstaff (please note the BADASS shark tooth necklace). You know it’s officially fall when one of Portland's most spectacular natural events begins: Thousands of Vaux’s Swifts gather in the city as they prepare to migrate to Central America and Venezuela. One population of the swifts have been returning to Chapman Elementary school here in Portland since the 1980s. An hour before sunset these tiny birds form swirling sentient clouds in the fading light, eventually funneling into their nightly roost in the decommissioned chimney of the school. This festival was a refreshing reminder of what the human experience is all about. So much positive energy, laughs with friends, exploration, and good music at this event.
