I want to clarify something. I know I often use the word “citizen”, and I want to point out that I’m not referring to it as some of it’s old conceptions in which being a citizen had more to do with a nationalist notion. I follow one of the most recent studies of ethic, the ethic of the victims. It’s not about pity, but about recognizing ourselves as the victims of an oppressive structure and fighting together. This leads to the “values of the citizens”, which proclaims that people are inherently political beings, all our actions and omissions are political, and as we take direct action in matters of daily live we’re assuming our position of citizens. I also talk about Patria, and my love for it. And I want to clarify: Patria is not a country, is not a piece of land, Patria is the people that dreams and works, and that’s what’s worth fighting for.
