this has been talked about quite a lot but really hunter x hunter is amazing in how the main four characters all end up being the virtual opposite of what their first impressions are. you think killua is sly and shady and go on to find out he has the most beautiful caring heart. you think gon is an earnest simple protagonist and find out he is smart and complex and capable of mistakes. you think kurapika will be that smart and judgemental brain of the group and then find out he’s passionately fueled by revenge and rage on a heartbreaking path of self destruction. you think leorio is sleazy and bad news but then find out he’s a beautiful trustworthy man who wants to help others genuinely and is the emotionally mature one who everyone else relies on
this happens with relatively minor characters too!! you think bisky is a cute girl and then find out she’s a wise middle aged nen master. u think ging will be charismatic and amazing and then find out his colleagues make fun of him and think he’s an asshole. u think komugi will-
