I really loved Amity’s little arc with her new relationship status because there were points where it felt like she was wearing her “girlfriend” status the way she used to wear her “top student” status. Something she’s made extremely important to her identity that could be ripped away from her at any misstep. It’s how Hunter was able to manipulate it so easily.

And she was able to check herself by the end and remember that this isn’t an award she’s earning by being The Best At Girlfriend, it’s a relationship that involves two people communicating and trusting and working through it together.

That was just real nice.

also not gonna lie, I didn’t realize how to read it either until it was explained later in the episode, made this moment so much funnier when I rewatched it

We’re all talking about Amity’s new crescent moon necklace.

But what we’re no talking about is how Amity has always been connected to  moons. 

Parts of her design are strongly moon-based. And we all know Dana loves to hide foreshadowing in her art. And having a character’s design hint to a particular aspect so much is suspicious as hell. 

We also have an episode called Eclipse Lake coming up. Where we’re aware Amity’s going to be present. In fact, they’re singling her out for a adventure, singling her out to a journey on her own. Something they’ve never done before with Amity. And the episode title just so has to be moon-based.

Then, from the trailer, we have this mysterious figure…

That correlation to crescent moons once again (I’m not saying this is Amity, it could be, but if it’s not, then that person is definitely important in terms of Amity’s arc).

Aside from Lumity interactions, I fully believe something big is going to happen in terms of Amity’s character in Eclipse Lake. Because moons are Amity’s thing for a reason we haven’t figured out yet.

Ok but the fact that only one of these isn’t canon shows how far cartoons have come in the past couple years. LGBTQ representation still needs to improve in cartoons, but it’s so much better than it was when I was young. I probably would’ve realized I was lesbian sooner if this is what I saw in the shows I watched ❤️

hey! i’m kicking off the #ADHDInvasion hashtag for adhd awareness month with a comic about CONSEQUENCES, and how my lifelong failure to react to them has been a huge source of frustration for me and for the ppl in my life who rely on me. even worse, it makes me seem apathetic or careless to others, when in reality it weighs really heavily on me - i just struggle to show it.

the best way i’ve found to deal with this is accepting that shame-based motivation DOES NOT WORK AT ALL for me (which is hard to do, when it’s all that’s been modeled for you by parents/educators/bosses) and try to replace fear/shame based consequences with positive outcomes: i.e. instead of “everyone will be so disappointed in me if i don’t do this,” sometimes it’s more helpful to think “if i do this on time, i’ll feel so relieved, and everyone will be happy that i pulled through.”

If you don't have a mailing address it's very easy to miss a notification to appear in court. Heck my family moved and my mom didn't get a letter that demanded she appear in court due to publix hitting her with a fraudulent check charge...over .20 cents

My mom was taken to the jail and then let go because she's was a white woman with no prior. Though the officer who brought her in treated her like a career criminal and was so proud of himself for "pulling a dangerous criminal off the street ". The head of the department made him apologize to her.

Compare that with this poor gentleman who was killed over the courts systems failure to actually notify people. Something that was out of his control.

Luz is dense

Maybe calling her dense is harsh but honestly… it’s true. 

1) Luz is completely oblivious to Amity’s affection. She really JUST thinks Amity sees her as a close friend. This one’s the most obvious so I’m getting it out of the way.

2) Luz is completely oblivious to HER affection for Amity. This girl has it bad, but she also has NO IDEA. She subconsciously flirts constantly, but she has no idea she has feelings for Amity. She thinks she just wants to be friends.

3) Luz has no idea what her biggest fear will be. When she says it’s Eda not believing in her she thinks that’s true. Despite having anxiety about her mom’s texts all day, she doesn’t realize how much it’s effecting her. It’s easier to just ignore it.

I think this goes well with my last post about Amity’s diary. Amity is a master of self reflection. She knows exactly what’s going on in her own mind, and she realizes she has a crush on Luz almost instantly. This makes some things harder on her because feeling like you know why you are the way you are makes you feel like you can control it. If you can just notice and be rational about things, then you don’t need to feel those big messy emotions… right?

Luz is the opposite. She’s nothing but big messy emotions, but the ones that hurt she ignores. She covers them up with bigger emotions about things that don’t hurt as much. Being dramatic about Eda not believing in her is a lot easier to be hurt about than her own failure at being honest with her mom. So she just forgets that it’s worrying her and focuses on Eda. Obsessing with befriending Amity is a lot easier than admitting she’s attracted to her.

I’m really excited to see how their mindsets play off each other going forward. They have so much they could learn from each other. Amity needs to learn balance, letting her emotions be and not having to have an explanation for everything she feels, she takes herself too seriously. Luz needs to learn to slow down and self reflect.

This, plus the post about how Luz and Amity have conflicting love languages, amazingly depicts how Lumity is the perfect slow burn. These two balance each other out so well, but their conflicting mindsets prevent them from being able to truly get together. Dana set up a slow burn we now know is actually real, but it also could draw out for seasons based on how these two idiots have acted so far. Dana’s an evil genius

Ok but we all know Amity 100% is only doing this because Luz asked her to. The girl is reading a book the majority of the time she hangs out with her “friends”, no way she would willingly play a sport unless a certain someone asked her too. Also Molly wrote the episode, and it’s titled “Wing it Like Witches”, not only a a play on “Bend it Like Beckham” but also it abbreviates to “WLW”. This episode gonna be so gay
