things I love about my tiny rural town:

if you're on a dirt road (aka not the main road in town) and you pass someone else, it's normal and expected to wave at each other regardless of if you know the person or not.

last summer my neighborhood's community garden became overtaken by zucchini, and we got zucchini bread as a gift from three separate neighbors, all from the same zucchini harvest.

every Thursday there's a group of retired folks who gather at the main road and hold "no kings" style signs and wave to all the cars. It's been over a year of them doing this every week.

the crowded community board outside the general store, especially in the summer.

the farm that puts out fresh cut flowers in old glass jars by the road for people to take for free in the summer months.

the library is only open three days a week for a few hours, but they do story hours for kids every Saturday regardless, and rent out things like snowshoes and skis.

the neighborhood kids cross country ski to school in the winter and cut through our backyard woods.

Our town barely hits 1,000 people but yet residents work together to plan a yearly town festival with food, fireworks, and kid performances.

we also have a town officer position solely to help in locating lost pets and livestock.

shaking off some dust by the pond. only got a quick clip before my phone overheated. I haven’t practiced my banjo much in the past year, mostly due to health reasons. i’m happy to be frailing again, though you can certainly hear the rust.

I realized that I’ve gifted 5 scarves now but have never made one for myself. So I decided to try cabling for the first time and make myself a scarf! Cables are actually so much simpler than I realized!

Also it seems I am drawn to this goldenrod color….

Split for sleeves on my modified loupy cardigan! I worked on the body for a smidge and then I switched to working on the sleeves so that I can have a better idea of how long I can make the body with the yarn that remains. I’m not planning to do the cinched in waistband like the pattern calls for, and I’m hoping I can make it longer instead of cropped, but we shall see.
