@phantomdreamโ gets some prompted angst // wes &&. maddie
ย ย ย ย if there was ever a time where maddie felt more alone in this world, it would be now. for months she had been working up her courage &&. nerves to find her way back to this tiny apartment on the third floor, frantically searching for a sense of normalcy lost among the breaking clouds of darkness that had been her life for the past five years. her &&. wes had gotten closer, she was finally starting to feel safe &&. happy, like she could move on in this world without any sort of repercussion. she should have known better than to assume that woodrow would simply let her go without a fight.
ย ย ย ย she can still remember that day a month or two ago, can still feel the sting from where fingers dug into her upper arm, though it did not hold a candle to the lack of pain she felt now. a mere ghost to everything that she had come to know by his hand.
ย ย ย ย the only memory madeline has leading up to that blank fog wrapping its self thickly around her fading conscience is a vague argument. her begging &&. pleading for woodrow to leave, to not come back, to never come back as long as she was here. to simply leave her be in her new life. itโs only after his mumbled reply that this darkness had begun to form &&. press in around her &&. everything went cold -- sparse flickers of warmth touching to her skin through heavy layers of clothing.
ย ย ย ย breaths are shallow, soft, barely even a ghost of a rise in her chest, as lashes kiss against the apples of her cheek. though, when they next raise, thereโs someone coming closer to her. she doesnโt quite know who, their voice a garbled jumble thatโs hard to decipher. she can distinctly hear her name, but everything else flowed together down the stream of time stretching infinitely before her. slowed &&. slurred -- spread out to where each syllable feels like a passing hour. pale blues fall shut once more a the world swims in &&. out of focus around her. &&. itโs the last thing she sees before that darkness descends on its prey -- sinking into her mind &&. burying it underneath its depths.
