Just ordered yarn for my next project: the Henny Penny Cardigan by Svetlana Gibadullina. I knit up the collar and the shortrows already since I have some DROPS Lima (dark ivy colorway) in my stash, and I am itching to keep working on it!!

Should I use the periwinkle fingering that I already have to go with the suri lace or should I order the matching speckled fingering?

Happy 3rd of advent!

Realised I haven't really posted advent stuff on here. So yall get all of them now pfft.

I got myself the advent calendar from my LYS again this year. Since last year was such a blast. One of the best parts is that you can wish for the colors you like when you put in the order. That's usually what makes me not get any other advent calendars, cuz I can't know I'd like the colors. Ofc over at Garnhyllan they know me by now, haha. So their choices for me has always been excellent.

So far it's been one skein of Meditating in Mumbai (by Baestmor), which I'm thinking is going to go into a cropped tee (maybe Kuutar Tee by Sari Nordlund. We'll see when I cake up the yarn, what the color progression looks like).

Two skeins of Pretty Print Ullgarn (by Gjestal Garn), which I'll probably use as a contrast color in an Aeria Shawl by Linnea Ornstein, together with a dark dark green base.

And today I opened it up and saw three skeins of Svensk Ull 4-tr (by Järbo)! I've never used this yarn before. And almost never knit in an worsted/aran that wasn't socks or mittens. So it's time to research!

Knitting plans for 2024

I'm very proud of all the sweaters I made in 2023 and it's hard to believe that almost exactly one year ago I cast off my very first knit project, a sweater made of purl stitches. The last months I learned so much in terms of knitting and it's nice to see my improvements.

In 2023 I finished two sweater (step-by-step and Ingrid sweater) and started two cardigans, that I put both on hold. Every time I wear something self-made it gives me so much joy and I love that I own finally some sweaters with long enough sleeves. It's a big advantage of knitting to costumize the garments to your needs and make them fit to your liking.

Moby sweater by PetiteKnit

I already have finished the yoke, but didn't liked how it turned out so right now I'm back at the back yoke. Hope this sweater will be finished in time to wear it before it gets to warm.

I'm using peer gynt in hopes that it'll turn out very warm and thick.

✓ Robinson wrap cardigan by handmade by Florence

I knit the body over 5 times and stopped there to make a break. I love the pattern, it's well written, but the body turned out to be a bit shorter on my body. The band sits right under my bust and it looks rather awkward on me, plus I don't have any bottoms that are high enough to close the gap. Maybe it works with a dress, but I don't own any matching ones and it wasn't my intention to wear the cardigan with dresses. Once I have enough brain capacity I'll figure out a way to make the body longer without the neckline ending up to deep.

Cloud sweater by lirika matoshi

I'm hoping the knitting for olive merino wool, that I already bought, is enough. It's hard to tell because I don't have any pattern for the sweater and it's my first time to design something on my own. And I haven't done any colorwork at all so far, so it'll be definitely a challenge. I'm hoping it'll still be fun to knit this sweater.

Porcelain sweater

Right now I'm not entirely sure if I really want to make this sweater, but for sure I want to knit a big, cosy sweater to throw over some turtleneck in the winter time.

What I love about the porcelain sweater is the classic looking colorwork, however it's not a pattern I normally gravitate to. Because of the reason that I started the moby and have the wool already here for the Robinson wrap and the cloud sweater, this project would be something I knit around the end of the year. And till then there is plenty of time to make my decision.

Scrap yarn projects

It's been a few years since I started crocheting and over all this time I accumulated a drawer full of yarn - mostly acrylics. Plus there are a few very old skeins from my mother's try's at knitting.

I have a lot of uncompleted projects, that weren't working out or didn't turned out to my liking.

So this year I want to use up some of this yarn and make something usable out of it or get rid of the things I definitely won't use in the future.

My goal is to finish my cabled jumper and my sweater number 14 Vneck for my birthday, April 17! And then I want to knit two unspun projects, a white ranunculus and an Aros sweater. Here's my inso pics for those !

My plan for the summer is to knit a loungewear set in noro kakigori, which is a lovely tweedy silk and cotton yarn that looks like this:

I want to knit these shorts and this Tshirt together in this yarn!
