i think nancy’s heart is on fire when she’s in love, and i think she knows that her heart burns up with each of those loves, and therefore she’s become scared of this specific kind of fire that threatens to burn her down completely

what’s insane is, the fire does burn her and reduce her to ashes, a skeleton of her is the only thing left, something which only happened because she let the fire consume her instead of relying on something, someone to help channel it. why would she do that? because her fire is built to burn and to hurt and to scar, because that’s all it’s ever seemed to do. fire is destruction. fire is nancy’s downfall. that’s what she thinks she knows.

but robin? robin breathes fire. robin is not immune to the burns, no one is, but she does not let being burnt stop her. to her, fire is life. it’s excitement. it’s energy. it’s all of the above. she accepts the burns and the scars and learns how to heal past them with the warmth that it gives. the flames that burnt her up can easily be used as new fuel to be built back again.

that’s how robin can restart nancy’s heart, with a spark of her own. that’s how robin can swallow nancy’s fire. that’s why nancy wheeler loves robin buckley.
