no actually the difference between will knowing he’s queer since before season one and mike not fully knowing about his own queerness until season five is important.

they’re telling the story of two different experiences. they’re asking a question: would you rather have everyone know you’re gay before you tell them? never have a choice? never be able to stay in the closet? or would you rather have to tell everyone repeatedly? have to come out again every time you meet someone new? would you rather it be impossible to hide, or too easy?
