Is censorship in art/entertainment required? Why or why not?
I believe that censorship in art or entertainment is not required because each artist is entitled to its own thoughts or descriptions. Each artist does his own thing and even though they state that it is his or her own idea everyone gets an idea off of someone else’s ideas.
Do you think ideas and concepts by artists can be dangerous? How?
I do think that ideas and concepts by artist can be dangerous because some concepts may be used to attack a different group whether its by language, imagery or by mimicking his or her thoughts.
Where should the line be drawn with censorship?
I honestly do not think that there should be a line for censorship because in today’s society every one does what ever they want when they want. No one seems to be bothered by other people’s actions
Is the perception of explicit content or violence relative to individual cultures? Yes, there are certain cultures who applaud violence a bit more than others.
Is there a parallel to be drawn in the United States with freedom of speech and art content? In your own words, how far does that go, or how much of our right to free speech should it cover?
In my opinion it does draw a line in the united states it seems that people get more offended by artwork then inappropriate language that is garbage. I feel like it should cover the freedom of speech completely, just because its not verbal it does not mean that it is noncommunicable.
For artists who's subject matter revolves around a concept of questioning governments or other entities of power, should they be allowed to express these opinions?
yes.
Where do you see censorship going from here - more or less restrictive?
I see censorship being less restrictive due to the freedom of speech
