Sometimes you just need to re-pot all your plants in silence, get dirt caked under your finger nails, order an absurd amount of takeout (feel a little guilty about it and move on) grab the cheapest bottle of wine you can find, sit by the light of your lamp under four blankets and read with your phone off, then rent a favourite film, finish the wine, pet your dog, pet your cat, fall asleep to your record still spinning - feeling safe because your bed is full of all your stuff, your sketch book, your novel (that’s bent), your pencil case, your stuffed animals, your orange bottle of meds, if it’s a day off don’t set an alarm, sleep like your body wants to, open your eyes when it feels right, breath until you feel your chest stop aching, until the knife exits the wound, and live and live and live and yes, the pain will come back, it always does, but so do all the good things….so do it again, do it your way, keep living, keep holding out for the good days waiting for you

to the various people in the reblogs calling this false: i think its interesting to read these words thinking from the point of view of a liberal/centrist who bought into neoliberalism and cold war fear-mongering and was wholly convinced that this really was the best way to run society.

some of these people are our parents and relatives and stuff. people who bought into this version of liberalism truly believing with good intentions that it was the only viable way. and so many of them aren't ready or willing to realize that they were wrong, they were duped.

for us on the left, we're well aware this is how the system was supposed to work fullstop. it was meant to produce these bad results. (well, most of them, not sure if potential death of the planet by turning it into a giant fossil fuelled oven was what any capitalist actually truly wanted.)

but for all the liberals/centrists tricked into believing this stuff, it kinda is the elephant in the room. unless they're convinced it's because of immigration or some other fascist bullshit.
