current canon point: beyond venom
"Please? Just a few words on record?" Eddie waves his phone in front of the cop, only to receive a shake of the head and a gesture to move along with his day. Just beyond the yellow tape is the aftermath of a small explosion; it's otherwise noteworthy, but Eddie has been following a small pattern.
No injuries, no fatalities, not even destruction of property. Just small, magical explosions that amount to what he'd consider maybe a young wizard's cure for boredom. But their locations, and the seemingly absent spell-caster, remains the big question. One that he'd like answered before it grows into something actually dangerous.
Defeated, Eddie turns around in search of a witness. To his luck, there's Chara, seemingly prying around ( which is what kids tend to do, right? ). So he walks up, kneels to their height, and tries to speak with the gentlest voice he can muster ( which works, for the most part ). "Hey there, kid," he smiles meekly, "did you happen to be watching this spot about thirty minutes ago? I'd really like to know a few things about what just happened."
[[ I love working at a comic shop like a customer just offered to sell me their copy of the original LP run because my coworker mentioned I'm the venom expert in the store ]]
"I understand. I don't have another mind, but my own does plenty. What's wrong?" She picked it up. The stress that hung around them. She didn't want to take a peek, but followed by her question her eyes does wander to the screen. She isn't familiar with KNULL, but it must mean something. From home? From here?
"What are KNULL?" She places her hand on the symbiote and gently runs her palm along it.
She treats it more gently than most others would; she's a nice lady, the symbiote thinks to itself, comfortable in her lap. The topic doesn't exactly bring a lot of comforting thoughts towards Eddie's direction, but he tries not to let it show. He miserably fails at that task, with the frown on his face.
"Oh, uh . . . Remember when I came back to the city? My hair was long and we were . . ." far off, distant, shaken, afraid-- "the thing I told you about, the God. The King in Black. He did something to my Other, to us. Makes me see things, hear things." Paranoia had set in deep within his bones, gnawing away at him, even here, even in this walled-off pocket universe, so far from reach from home. From Dylan. The symbiote seems to weigh heavier in Hanabi's lap.
Eddie shuts the laptop, shoving it to the side, averting his eyes from the words on the screen. How much of that is truly Knull's own influence and how much is Eddie's overactive mind? How much is it the symbiote's bond, seemingly corrupting him like he'd once thought those years ago? "Sorry. I know he's not here-- he can't be. But he just . . ."

“Oh, no, don’t worry!” come the words of Capella, taking off her lab coat to drape it over a chair.
“This isn’t like any of the boring movies or tv shows that everyone else likes to watch,” she pauses.
“Especially Caelum, hehe!” and with that, the woman now plops down on her chair in an almost giddy manner, soon wheeling herself over to her companion nearby. With her eyes, she continuously motions to the chair now next to her own, her smile growing wider and wider as the silence between the two continues. Eventually, however, Capella gets tired of not saying anything and adds:
“Well? Have a seat! Either the chair or the cold ground, take your pick! HAHAHAHA! No, no, I’m just kidding… But have a SEAT!” she now shouts, pushing the chair with her leg into the knees of Aspidiske, causing them to topple over into the seat now. Pleased with her companion having now sat down, she wheels herself back over to the lone TV in the middle of the main computer lab, covered in a vast amount and variety of stickers. It seems misplaced and, more than that, absolute given that anything Capella could show Aspidiske could easily be shown via a computer screen.
Cracking her fingers, Capella reaches into the pockets of her lab coat draped over her chair, pulling out a tv remote and promptly turning the TV on with a buzz. Confusion is apparent on Aspidiske’s face but frankly, it’s something that is either unnoticed or ignored by Capella herself. Instead, she begins to flick through the channels and… Upon closer inspection, some flashes of the images shown may seem quite familiar to Aspidiske.
More so in particular, the various ‘actors’ apparent on the screen.
“I thought just doing a regular environment test would be boring and not get any interesting results so…! I took it upon myself to do a little editing and whatnot! Hey, do you have a favourite subject? I can try and find the channel they’re on right now and we can see what the plot of their story is like! Hehe… Hehehahaha!!”
--------------------
It is strange, to simply close your eyes for a moment and to reopen them, only to see that you are in a new place entirely. Whether you have closed your eyes to get some well deserved shut eye or simply had to blink, the end result is the same; you are no longer in Spirale. In fact you… Aren’t really sure where you are. However, something seems… Very off; very eerie and you are quick to notice it.
Whether it be the environment itself, the over acting of the people around you or perhaps just your innate intuition, it’s become apparent that you… Are now within a movie or some sort of tv production. How did this happen; why? Well, no one can be sure, especially not many of the people stuck inside that tv screen with you.
After all, they’re just actors doing their job!
--------------------
SO, WHAT’S GOING ON?
As you may have guessed, your muse is now stuck within a movie or some sort of tv program. Capella has taken it upon herself to test the limits of her programming mods while at the same time, testing out environment changes and the reactions of the various citizens thrust into their new 'world’. While it may not be obvious right away, eventually your character will realize that they are, essentially, stuck inside a movie (or what have you) of sorts. No matter what they say or do, most of the other 'actors’ inside this realm won’t respond to their reasoning or pleas and instead, act just according to their script.
So unfortunately, no one really knows what’s going on and has no answers to provide for you. Sorry!
WAIT, SO IT HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF MOVIE?
Movie, tv show, advertisement… Heck, it could even be a recording of a popular stage play! As long as it’s something that can be played as part of a tv’s 'regular programming’, then anything goes! You are free to select the genre of what exactly your character has been thrown into to your heart’s content; an action adventure flick, a romcom movie, a sitcom with a live audience reaction… Even rubber hose cartoons are fair game! The sky is sincerely the limit with how creative you’d like to be for this event!
You can, however, have other muses be stuck in the same program as you. While your muses may be confused, everyone else in the program will behave as intended and will only become confused if you should try to explain your situation to them. For example, if you try to calm down an enemy cowboy and explain what’s happening to them, they simply won’t understand and act however their character according to the tv program would act.
CAN TWO CHARACTERS BE STUCK IN THE SAME 'PROGRAM’?
As mentioned above, yes! For this event, muses can be stuck inside a tv show together and the maximum amount of muses that can stuck together is four.
ARE WE ALLOWED TO CHANGE 'PROGRAMS’ OR CHANGE THE CHANNEL?
You can absolutely have your muse switch to another program, yes! … However, this won’t be of their own volition, unfortunately. If they are to switch between programs it’s going to be entirely random; think of it like your relative annoyingly flipping through channels on the tv until they finally find something they want to watch!
ARE WE ALLOWED TO USE AN ESTABLISHED CANON MOVIE/ETC?
No, sorry! In efforts to keep fourth wall breaks from happening and the like, you cannot use any sort of canon piece of material. However! You ARE allowed to make your own spin-offs and reference any sort of real world media if you’d like!
SO, IS THERE AN 'END' OF THE SET WE CAN HIT, LIKE A BLACK WALL?
Nope! For most of the tv shows and movies, the environment will be as vast as the 'setting'. For example, if your muse is within a western-cowboy film, then they can venture into the desert and into the towns. However, there is a point where if they venture too far, they will return to their original starting point.
This is also true for recorded stage plays and the like; the stage will stretch on for seemingly eons but will eventually circle back to the point where you first started, thus making it seem you are 'stuck' on the stage!
"We don't owe you one," he says pretty blatantly, airquoting with his fingers as his Other recollects itself around him. Brock has no shame as it starts to cover the important parts of him, pouting. Despite all he's learnt over his very long ( and very complicated ) experience with fatherhood, he hasn't learnt to grow up when it comes to resentment. Going to space, without him, being welcomed by its species, without him, and the additional coincidence that Flash was there to see it all. Without him, by the way, was that ever mentioned?
"We would've done the same for you, or anybody else. This isn't about owing us or you anything." Cornered in a fight, the symbiote weak and unable to protect him, he would've held his own just fine. It's not the symbiote that provides all the muscle ( although it does help ), though it needs not to be mentioned how under-dressed Eddie had been for the occasion. Peter had stepped in at the right ( wrong? ) time, and the petty thieves ( alongside the nanny they'd been robbing from ) had quickly parted ways from them.
Alien material slowly rises from his skin, forming a pair of jeans and not much else. It'll take time to form a shirt, a jacket, much else . . . Eddie looks ridiculous like this. "I had it under control, by the way." The symbiote pushes a sympathetic thought, resurfacing those jealous feelings from the pit of his stomach. That, and a hunger. A very human one. "But whatever. We're heading for lunch. You wanna tag along or something?"
[[ I think one of the funniest things I could do to Eddie is force him to still be bitter about his coworkers bullying him over a goddamned typewriter ]]
It's large and bulky on the coffee table; Eddie wipes away a few of the stacks of paper aside to make way for it, smiling proudly at it. Since he'd been gifted it for Christmas, he's used it damn near every day, typing outlines for articles he plans to write in the near future. Aside from the dings of time and the skull etched into the side, he's taken very good care of it. "This is the best Christmas gift I'd ever gotten!"
Not like there was that high a bar to begin with, but the sentiment is still there regardless. How the hell does a kid like Uzi get their hands on a typewriter in this day and age? "You should try it out. Works like a dream-- much better than a macintosh, right?"
There the tone of barely-disguised resentment in his voice; the symbiote remembers this faint memory that Eddie holds onto for no reason aside from stubbornness. His coworkers, teasing him for preferring ink and paper over the digital age. "I used to have something like this, back in my world. You ever had one before? It's not the most convenient thing but . . . it's not always about convenience, you know? It's about the principle, about the-- anyways--" He waves his hand dismissively. "Try it. Go on."
The symbiote purrs on her lap, a large dark mass with its eyes shut. Eddie types dutifully beside her, working on an article he's had on his mind for a while. A recollection of events, per-se, before he came back to the city. Memories to the best of his ability. But when his hands leave the keys, he frowns, pushing the laptop away from himself. It's like an infection plaguing him, like he's sick with no home remedy. The symbiote tries hard to push the thoughts away, but it can only do so much.
"Stop that," he hisses, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Sorry. Not you, Hanabi. I meant . . . You know." The creature continues to purr on her lap, the way a kitten would under stress, so seemingly at peace to the untrained eye. If she took a glance at the screen, she'd find the same three words copied and pasted throughout the entire document:
KNULL IS COMING.
"Writer's block is tough with another mind in here." He points awkwardly at his own head.
[[ im sick as a dog rn but I read anv 6 and its making me so insane how throughout the 2018 run, while I had criticisms, did the good deed of separating venom from spidey and then afterwards that just got undone and now the symbiote is perpetually stuck in "I'm so in love with the spider who tried to kill me" ]]
[[ not to go crazy over literally 4 splash pages of the spider fcbd but that bit on the 3rd page practically equating symbiosis as a form of addiction to Eddie, and that his way of stopping / ending the addiction being to kill himself, which is also one of the major reasons which the symbiote went to HIM specifically, must mean SOMETHING ]]
