Hey, Hanabi is acting very differently and out of character? Don't worry about it.
"Niro... nii?? The hell kind of a name is that??" Will he remember? Probably not, with the way he spells the name as he lets out a deep sigh. "Well... kinda got used to it after the first time i was here and once I know its hard to get the hell out of this place. I accepted it. For now. There's no way I ain't going back." Whoever this person was sounded shady as hell, he doesn't trust those who say they needed something return. Learns it the hard way with crossroad demons. "Thanks, kid. But I'm not about to give up my soul or kill someone."
"Well his name is Watanuki Kimihiro. He's a big brother that I live with!" Man, now she feels her cheeks flushed.
Luckily it's short lived and she shakes her head, "Oh, of course. goodness---I don't think it'd be anything like that." Hm, she never did make a wish with him before. She isn't quite sure how it works. She wonders if she should ask him!
"Anyway! Enough talk about that then! Haha! How long were you here last time?"
damn it, she reminds him too much of his sister that makes him stop in his tracks. The teasing, the way she doesn't want help, unless helped. The smile... it ached his chest too much. Edward wondered how Elizabeth would have been if she was alive, to meet someone like this girl in front of him. She would have many friends, many people who would have loved her... unlike him.
he had to blink before coming back to his realty, "it's Edward, um... nice to meet you, hanabi. You're quite the cheerful kid, aren't you?? Honestly, suits you well to be happy."
"Mmm! My parents even said that I was a cheery kid when I was much younger, too!" She did her best to always remain smiling. It didn't matter how hard things got. Or how scary.
"But it is nice to meet you, too Mister Edward! Have you been here long?"
" It's not much of a wish really... "
The slightly bitter scoff he gives is gentler than usual. Seeing her float it up like that is pretty impressive although the second time makes it a little less so.
He doesn't mind faking a little enthusiasm though.
" Wooow~~ People sure can do amazing things in here! "
"Mmm, some are really neat," she says with a smile. "I have a friend who can teleport to different places..." The smile falters when she thinks of Vanth, but just as quickly as it did, the smile comes back.
"I know of two angels, too! They're beautiful. And I live with two amazing people, too. They have neat tricks. Though....I guess one of them is a troublemaker, haha!"
» Modes of transport in this place still feel monumental for Leo to even begin to wrap his mind around, for the most part. Even the boat ride over to the island had been so wildly different to what he was used to that he hadn't been sure what to make of it. But the call of all the potential held within an island born of volcanic activity, all the wildlife just begging to be documented, had Leo enthralled from the moment he'd even caught wind of the place.
That is, at least, until the wafting scent of grilled meats had hit his nose, almost as far away from the concealed city as the dock they'd made port in. Stomach and watering mouth had almost instantaneously taken over the role of tour guide from the mind that had been so drawn to discovery, so fast it was almost comical.
He's got his mouth absolutely stuffed, is the thing, cheeks puffed full and all, when a girl suddenly starts talking to him. It's the sort of thing he would definitely get scolded for in the castle, even though he's more than a little spoiled to getting away with it with the Rangers.
Leo quickly sets about to chewing the rest of what he's got stuffed away in his cheek, thumping his chest with his free hand as he does so, the other still balancing a plate piled high.
"N-no, actually," he finally gets out with a small cough. An impatient Ratha aggravatedly grumbles from his perch on Leo's shoulder, and almost automatically the prince is holding up another hunk of meat for the tiny wyvern to take his turn digging his teeth into it.
"I, um-" he starts, actually sounding a bit bashful.
"Well. Kinda' loaded my whole plate with all the different kinds of meat, y'see." Something that even the other Rangers might possibly scold him for. Not all of it was for him, though...!
"I supposed I probably should get some more variety, huh?"
Seeing the wyvern on his shoulder reminds her of Haru. He'd sit right on her shoulder, too. She'd feed him as well, just like that. What a fond but bittersweet memory.
"YES! Hey, please sit with me! I'll share my plate with you!" And she, too, has her plate filled to the brim! Someone so small...someone so small could eat like 10 men on a boat!
She pats an empty seat beside her for him to sit.
"Here!" Quickly, she's stabbing an apple with a stick and passing it to him. "Maybe your little friend will like it, too." Did they eat fruits?
"I'm Hanabi, by the way. What are your names?"
Oh! Quickly, while she waits, she's grabbing some drinks she purchased earlier and hands one over, "Just in case you stuff your face too much again, hehe."
He looks up at the voice to see her approaching. Tucking his arms into his sleeves as a coping mechanism. Being lost and vulnerable made his blood shift around in ways he didn't like.
"I... did not know this path led to the shrine. But it is a place that I have been wanting to visit. My younger brother said it was a place to help reset. And to use to make amends. I would gladly accept help. This is all very new to me."
It also connected those alive with spirits of loved ones who had passed, apparently, but he wasn't as versed in whether that would work for curses or not.
"Your younger brother?" He must be here in that case. It makes her feel glad that someone's family member could be here with them, too. "You've come to the right place then. Please follow me." She shows the gentleman the correct area to walk as she leads him up the stairs to the area where prayers and rituals were held.
Hanabi even explains why they couldn't walk at the center, and when they get to the area, she doesn't talk much. She trusts that he'd follow her way in paying her respect.

They sit by the end of the stairway that leads to another section. No longer in the shrine area, they can have a better conversation. Hanabi brought some warm tea his way as well.
"The spirits here always love it when people visit, so thank you for coming all this way."
"It's not THAT hot. It's only 90! That's plenty cool."
Loose clothes and a lifetime growing up in the desert made for quite a high heat tolerance. In contrast to the other woman's exhausted sweltering, Frye was all grins as she kicked her legs back and forth in her seat, casting a stray glance upwards at the shimmering sun overhead. A few clouds ran across the blue, but it didn't look like anything too bad to worry about despite the uncomfortable humidity... hopefully. Probably. She was never great at telling.
Shrugging any concern off, Frye turned back to her new companion.
"You should see what the Splatlands get like some days back home. Good thing we also got the best beverages on the block!"
All playful reminiscing aside, she was thirsty, though. Even a heat tolerance as rugged as her own could only go so far by itself.
"Speaking of, you wanna go grab something?"
"Only---ONLY 90!?" No, there's no way it's only 90 for her! This just proves her point, honestly.
"Ahhhhh!!!" Hanabi whines into the sun, shoulders slumping even more. You'd think being born and raised between Japan and Korea where it got the most humid in the summer, she'd be used to this kind of heat. No. She hated it.
Hanabi finally opens her eyes to glance at Frye. "If it gets hotter than this, I'd rather NOT see."
And at the question of grabbing something, Hanabi lunges forward a bit. She makes such a weird and awkward noise that indicates a YES from her.
"Let's grab a smoothie or something, yeah?"

She spots someone just beneath the Tori'i gate. He looks confused, lost even. As if he hadn't meant to follow the path that led up the many steps to get here.
"Do you need some help? The shrine is open to all," she calls out as she approaches.
She came out this way to clear her own mind. Hanabi at first had trouble sleeping, and when she was able to sleep, it was interrupted and cut short when she woke from a nightmare.
She had to sneak out so as not to wake Kimihiro or get spotted by Shadow (but knowing him, he probably already knew.) There was just no sneaking by Shadow. Still, she'll have to thank him for keeping quiet if anything.
Maybe Kimihiro knows, too....
She looks out onto the still water. She doesn't like how still it is. The wind blows a gentle breeze, but the water is so still. For some people, the sight may be calming, but for Hanabi, it makes everything surrounding the place eerie. Makes it too quiet. Uncomfortably so. So quiet, in fact, she could have sworn she heard its voice. The haunting cackle, the mocking, the...

Hanabi gasps, head turning sharply at the voice, but instead,

How did she get THAT from what he said?
"Oh, Fushiguro-San...Yeah, uh, I couldn't sleep. I would say the same about you, but you look like you like the nighttime more?"
He stands on the dock, looking back toward her before dropping his gaze to the water. The sky wasn't much help; hiding their moons behind a haze of thick clouds. The extra light might have helped the oppressive atmosphere.
Maybe not.
"I'm more used to sleeping when I can. Just don't need it lately."
He mutters the last part mostly to himself before he waves her on.
"If you're gonna stick around, come on. I'm on a walk right now."
"Oh..." She wants to ask what he means by that, but the question is stuck. It's the kind of feeling that makes you feel like you already know the answer. Either way, she adjusts her flip-flops from one hand to the other and follows beside him.
The silence is deafening. She feels she needs to say something; otherwise, she may just start losing it like she did earlier!
"It's so weird seeing the two moons. I don't think I'll be able to get used to it any time soon. What about you?"

"Wha! You're so strong and quick, I almost couldn't keep up!" She's sure that's not the limit of his abilities. He's much stronger, but because they are at a Dojang, it wasn't like he could go all out.
This was just for fun. For practice!
"May I go another round?" She asks the one playing referee. They give the okay, and Hanabi smiles big, her attention back on her opponent.
"Uzui-San! I am ready whenever you are!"

"Baaaaaaaaaaaah!" Hanabi exclaims, shoulders slumped, head tilting upward as eyes closes. "It's SOOOOOO hot!" It really was. Usually when it got hot like this, it meant one thing. It just might rain, and it might rain hard.
"I don't know how you do it? It's so hot out, but you look cool. Like you're not burning up!"

I think it's limited, since we are trapped here and in the end the Stars have the upper hand, but he can help you if you ever need it." PERMANENT STARTER CALL
Okay, so here it is! A perm plotter call for our Hanabi. There’s some stuff I want to explore with her and she also needs more interactions and just people to meet that may help her and her help them with things! ANYWAY, by liking this post I’ll safely assume it’s okay for me to slide into your DMS and/or IMS to plot things and send random sponty starters, memes, etc!
Down under the read-more is a list of things I’m looking for her!
Friends: Hanabi could use more friends actually. She’s awkward, but very friendly and stuff so it isn’t hard to befriend her! She gets along with people. She’s more than likely wanna be your friend, SO if she sounds like someone your character would want to befriend, let her know! She’d be happy.
Besties: Hanabi has one bestie back home and she misses her everyday. In Spirale, I don’t think I can say that she’s got a bestie. She doesn’t have people she can just randomly show up at their house and have random sleep overs and stuff like she did back home. I’d like for her to have something like that here. Where she can just head on over to their place, go shopping, etc. Talk about crushes or the next hot goss! You feel me?
Fellow medium/shamans: Do we even have any of these kinds of people here? This will also fall into ‘ghost’ or spirit beings as well. Hanabi’s whole shtick is that she’s a medium/shaman. Someone who can see, feel, and hear ghosts and spirits of any kind and someone who can perform rituals to do what she needs to do. This is a huge part of her identity. I would like for her to explore this side of herself more.
Enemies: Not easy to make, but not impossible. If you’re not a good person and your moral is very, very questioning…She may just not like being around you. If you hurt people for the funs of it and you’re just an overall nasty person, she’s not afraid to call you out and/or potentially fight. She may be small, but she packs a punch and she knows how to fight.
Mentor: Funnily enough, my other OC Hansol is Hanabi’s mentor for a number of reasons. One being that Hansol owns a Dojang and Hanabi is a skilled fighter. She needs her daily training session and she doesn’t miss a day of class. It’d be nice to have more mentors or teachers of any kind really. If only to help guide her when she needs it.
Found family: Maybe I can consider some people she’s met to already be family, but family is a huge thing for Hanabi. She misses her mom and she most certainly misses her dad. She does feel lonely in Spirale, but she’s met so many people that she feels comfortable calling family. Anyway, the more the merrier!
Crush/Romance: As I mentioned earlier, Hanabi is an awkward person, but when it comes to someone she likes, she’s even MORE awkward or she’s more awkward toward people she finds attractive. A mess, this girl is. I think it would be super cute for her to find someone she starts to crush on, but this isn’t a priority thing. I think it’d be nice, hilarious, and stuff!

Walking helped people think.
It helped people process these thoughts while giving the body something repetitive to do. Pumping iron will do the same. Cooking, folding laundry, and any other mundane chores would get the job done.
However, Toji was walking.
He started at night, just a drive to peel himself from his bed, get some fresh air. He let his legs wander the empty streets and trams until he arrived somewhere he didn't have the name for. Probably missed the sign in his inner turmoil.
The dock was empty of any boats and he felt the need to take his rest there.
Even as he stepped on the boards, he noticed the oddity of the water.
Stillness.
Yet the water still lapped at the dark barriers.
Even when the vibrations of his steps would've been more than enough to disturb the water...
He looked back, his head canting to the side.
"You didn't look like the type to be up past curfew."
She came out this way to clear her own mind. Hanabi at first had trouble sleeping, and when she was able to sleep, it was interrupted and cut short when she woke from a nightmare.

He takes a seat besides her in the stands. He leans back, letting his ankles rest on the lower seats in front of them. Usually he'd take the time to do a little bit more research of horses but since there's only two, there's no real point. He'll be fine to share this experience with a noobie--

The doors open and out the gate are two-- women? In fancy little outfits absolutely hoofing it on foot.
He stared, eyes bulging wide, as the literal horse girls kick up turf in their mad dash to the finish line.
"What-- in the hell is this?"
She watches in disbelief before a stream of giggles escapes her uncontrollably! "Oh, They're literal horse girls!" She should have known something like this was going to be the case!
"This is amazing! Isn't it, Fushiguro-San!?" And somehow, she's even more pumped!
