Dead As A Doornail
“I expected fiery flames. Not… This.” He gestured to their surroundings with a flick of his wrist. Andy still looked gaunt, tired. Death took its toll on him. “Thought maybe I’d get away with seein’ her one more time. Reckon I was wrong.”
He sounded disappointed and defeated. It showed in the way his shoulders hunched.
The former cannibal shot May a look.
“… Yer actin’ different.”
"Sorry you were let down, then. I think prefer this to fire." Her ghost of a smile disappeared (no pun intended). As much as she would rather not admit it, but was she ever happy to be able to converse. Days to weeks to months had been spent screaming, shouting, in hopes that someone, anyone would be able to hear her. But no avail.
"Am I?" A slight pause.
"That's death for you."
