So wigs suck and i hate them
Seriously though styling my wig for my Toon Pajama Link cosplay... and I have to say that never before have i smelt, tasted, have had land on my skin so much flipping hairspray oh on a side note i managed to get a large portion of the materials for my friends Scarecrow mask (she just needs to get the respirator to use as the base) but that project is for after i get some of my own things done ( the aforementioned Toon Link and Serge from Chrono Cross)
Hooray its delivered (or atleast waiting to be delivered)
Well the Riddler Cane is either with its owner or in route to its owner my workshop is mostly back in order... next job is to get my personal stuff ready for con... ive got roughly 31 days left... and i seem to be intent on working on completely unrelated stuff that i have no need to do just yet... someone want to come stand over me and scream at me to get busy.
GEE... i wonder whats in this box? could it possibly be a prop ready for delivery?
Well unless the resin copy of the gem actually turns out all right this is what it will end up looking like. I start working on the wiring tomorrow and then a final once over before i call it ready
Adventures in mold making pt.2
Well got the stupid mold made and made my first attempt at casting it... hopefully it works (we will find out in the morning) if this works all thats left on the Riddler cane is to rig up the light at the base.
ADVENTURES IN MOLD MAKING
working with silicone has a few rules 2 of the most important ones 1: Patience is a Virtue 2: if you are going to ignore #1 then atleast wear gloves before you try pulling out the mold
wasnt able to get too much done this last week.... kinda been playing Destiny and the fact that it rained on my light work days made painting difficult nevertheless i got the shaft of the cane painted the right color and bought a good portion of what i need for the gem on the bottom... so as soon as i get a good one casted i should be ready to finish assembly and then get some actual completed prop pictures.
Well after a significant amount of searching i finally found the last piece i need for the Riddler cane all thats left is to cast a copy in a green resin then see about wiring up a green LED to it then attach it and make sure the paint job is done on everything.
Hey Peoples... long time no see (working two jobs, getting a new kitten, and trying to organize stuff will do that) Anyways im back with a new project (yes i know i need to finish one of the gajillion that i have already started on here but this one has an actual deadline) Anyways as you can see im building the Riddler's cane from Arkham City for the friend of a friend i've also learned some stuff (like glow in the dark spray paint is kinda weird to use) but i figured now that i have a little more free time as stuff finally settles into a new routine that i should start posting again especially as the next two months will probably have a significant amount of progress pics on a few current jobs and some new ones (like seriously i bought a sewing machine and am going through the torture of learning how to sew) anyways expect more of my unique brand of random rantings that cant keep up with my thought process and tons of incomplete (hopefully being completed) props
Well... i actually pried myself from FFXIV a little bit this weekend and managed to smooth out the edges of the 3dmg and glued most of it together. also wrapped the launcher part in cardstock so that i wont have as much sanding to do after i cast the damn things... all thats left is cutting one part down gluing the last piece wrapping everything then i can make a mold of it.
So...
I was totally going to work on the 3dmg more this weekend... but FFXIV is having a free weekend and ive been on a Square Enix kick lately so im going to have to postpone that for just a bit...
Well after having to redo the engine part to my friends' 3dmg i've finally got most of the cutting done all thats left is one more piece (the top of the cable holder) then i get to heat form part of it then glue everything, sand down a few parts then do a few dozen coats of sealer then make the mold and cast all the parts... and then days of detail work on the casted copies... not too much to do seeing as how i also have to build a couple of things for myself as well as a Foam Fem-Shep armor for my Sis... Also you can see my new toy in the back... yea i got a hot wire since Amazon screwed up and never sent me a Hot Knife its not quite the same but hey i'm having a blast ruining all my scrap foam... and some foam that wasnt actually scrap...
Well its assembled... and a shoddy paint job to show a couple friends what it will look like once i fiberglass it... you know the pictures actually mask the minor imperfections that trigger my OCD. Anyways I plan on working on the 3DMG tomorrow before work.
Well built a Keyblade... Pepakura is a bitch... i know the supports are showing and the blade didn't print right (ran out of blue and yellow ink) but this is just the skeleton of the Keyblade ill be resin coating it for reinforcement and bondo-ing it smooth.anyways its Pepakura printed out on 110lb card stock glued together with hot glue and supposedly super strength craft glue. The interior is filled with spray insulation foam for support and like i said it will be getting a fiberglass and resin coating later. Anyways i'll be assembling it later tonight and will post some pictures after that

So I built a new prop this weekend all it needs is reinforcing and then assembly of the parts ... I would have some pictures of it but meh i just dont feel like taking any... maybe later... anyways hopefully i have my materials for the 3DMG delivered today so i can get that out of the way.
SUPPLY(AND TOOL) RUN
Well its payday... and i'm broke now... but i have lots of goodies headed my way including a printer capable of printing out Pepakura files so i can actually get alot more done now. Expect 3DMG progress Tuesday or Wednesday, Samehada progress tommorrow and possibly something new over the weekend or on Monday

HA HA I managed to come up with dimensions that work for the stupid box on the 3DMG pictures in the morning... er afternoon because i need to sleep and then go to work... plus i need to plan out how im going to do the fuel tank.
