BTS - Yoongi and the Moon in Never Mind
It’s already known that Yoongi was depicted as Jack Frost for their Season’s Greetings promotions.
Anyone who has seen the movie from where this rendition of Jack Frost in from ‘Rise of The Guardians’ knows that he has a strong relation to the moon.
Jack is essentially lost, and looks to the moon for guidance, following this quote from the movie:
“Darkness. That’s first thing I remember. It was dark, it was cold, and I was scared. But then… then I saw the Moon. It was so big, and it was so bright. It seemed to, chase the darkness away. And when it did… I wasn’t scared anymore. Why I was there and what I was meant to do, that I’ve never known, and a part of me wonders if I ever will.”
In the Never Mind Intro, after the butterfly, the moon takes its place above the water:
Acting almost like the focal point for that part of the video. Yoongi’s verse starts off with ‘I only look forward and run, without having time to look around.’
This could relate to how he’s pretty much been on his own, with little to no guidance through his experiences, and he sees the moon as support.
“My name is Jack Frost. How do I know that? The Moon told me so. But that was all he ever told me. And that was a long, long time ago.“
It’s like it set Yoongi in the right direction and just left him off like that. Even when no one supported him, every night the moon came up, ensuring that no matter how many people brought him down, the moon would still come up to greet him.
This also relates to the song ‘Claire De Lune’ that is played during the very beginning of the Prologue, which translates to ‘Light of the Moon’ or ‘Moonlight’.
If you watch the prologue, you’ll notice Jungkook towards the end, while he’s sitting on the pier, do this gesture:
If you were to actually do that, you would see an image similar to this:
He’s even see looking up shortly after, and sometimes, the moon is visible during the day time, maybe he’s looking for it(?) considering the sun is setting.
