Coffee+pajamas= the only way I’m staying sane during online summer classes. I’m learning so much in so little time- it’s both exciting and immensely stressful.
As a side note, I noticed that i now have 131 followers! Thank you so much, everyone. I hope I’ve made a positive impact on this community. If anyone else is taking summer courses atm, you’ve got this. And I’m sending positive vibes to anyone starting classes in the fall.

Hello, all! It has certainly been a bit of time since I’ve posted anything. Last semester I finished my biology and chemistry pre-reqs and I even had the honor of taking my first major-related course: Immunology. I now have two summer classes: Clinical Chemistry II and Clinical Hematology I. In the fall I take Diagnostic Microbiology and Hematology II, as well as my final two gen eds. Anyway, apologies for the rant. I’d love to hear what you guys are studying. Are there any fellow Medical Lab Science/ Medical Technology majors out there?
I know 2020 has brought upon some difficult times. I hope everyone is staying safe out there and that you haven’t lost motivation for your passion like I did for a little while. Wishing everyone good luck in their academic and career-related endeavors. And, without further ado,

New Year’s resolution ideas for students
Finish all your schoolwork by 11 pm each day
Limit yourself to one cup of coffee a day
Get at least a B in all of your classes (or set goals for individual classes)
Stretch for 10 minutes before bed
Read a book each month for leisure
Get at least 7 hours of sleep every night
Spend less than two hours on social media a day (or some other time limit, depending on where you are now!)
Journal every day
Leave for class 5 minutes earlier than you need to
Listen to podcasts or watch documentaries instead of binging Netflix or watching YouTube
Get at least 1 hour of exercise a week
Only spend money on things you really need (not just things you want)
Finish papers at least a day in advance
Spend 30 minutes a day on self care
Wake up an hour earlier than you currently do every day
What are some of your resolutions (if you have any)? x
Well, the semester is drawing to a close and I may be able to scrape by without dropping out. Let's see how the rest of my finals go...
Let's all study 🌻
Happy halloween! I thought I’d scare everyone with a post about school. Organic and micro are taking turns destroying my GPA. Got some cool photos from lab this week. The semester is over in a month and a half and my brain is fried. Until next time friends,

College has been killing me, but it’s what we do for what we love.
I’ve been planning out my classes for the next few semesters and it only gets harder from here. Let’s all hope I don’t actually act on my intense urges to drop out.
Until next time, let’s all study.

Okay, I’m giving up on 100 days of productivity.
But, I have been taking a lot of notes and learning a lot of science 🧬
How to Take Notes from a Textbook
I’m currently facing the dilemma of how to take notes from a textbook. It’s hard to know where to begin or what’s the best information I need to really understand the material I’m reading. I have gathered tips and resources to better decide the best method to use the textbook most effectively.
-Preview. Glance over charts or photos used on the pages. Read study questions or summaries that might be given at the end of the chunk of pages. It preps me for the type of reading I will do and to think about the questions as I read.
-Read actively. Don’t take notes or highlight as you read. Read a short section before you stop to take notes and highlight. Your first step after you read the paragraph is to highlight a phrase or two that were the important parts that you’ll need to know for future reference. Also, go to the margins (or your post-its) and start writing a question or two for the paragraph. When you’re done with the entire section, go back and try to answer these questions without looking at the book. If you can answer it, you are doing well on recalling that paragraph. This is also a good time to make some notes for class.
-Review. At the end of the reading, write a summary (in your own words) of what you just read. It helps to understand what you retained from the reading and highlight parts you need to review. I also like to go back and try to answer those questions I made in the margin again. The BEST thing I like to do is to answer the comprehension at the end of the chapter. Each textbook has one. Answer those and, if you’re unsure of the answer, ask them during class!
Other tips:
-Try to keep your notes in your own words.
-If something is not making sense, try reading it out loud. That can often help you process the material in a new way.
-Multiply the number of pages you have to read by 5 minutes. That is the amount of time the average college student needs to spend on their reading assignment.
-Writing in the book itself is highly recommended, but if you have some reason for not doing that, you might also want post-its and use those on each page in place of writing in the book.

Day 3/100
You know the drill, trying to cram six chapters of microbiology into one night.
My second biology exam is next week, which means I’m officially trekking into uncharted academic territory. Wish me luck, and as always,
Let’s all study 🌻
Let’s just gloss over the fact that I missed quite a few days of productivity. We’ll call this day 2/100. As for how my week is going: lab work, lab work, and more lab work. Oh, and cramming for my microbiology test this upcoming Friday.
On the bright side, I got an 86% on my first o-chem exam! Not too bad.
Until next time, let’s all study! 🌻

100 Days of Productivity
Day 1/100
Some photos from college! The top is one of a lab we did in Organic Chemistry (crystallization) and the bottom is me stressing over the o-chem exam I’m going up against tomorrow. Also, I'm attempting 100 days of productivity with @sabrina-studying. Let's count this as day one.
Wish me luck,

Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted to this blog. In a couple weeks I’ll be starting my sophomore year of college, majoring in Medical Laboratory Science.
To think I haven’t posted since right after graduation really amazes me. I had a pretty big family loss last summer, and I almost considered calling off going to college. Over the summer and my freshman year I’ve grieved relentlessly, but as I start a new year I’m trying look forward to my future instead of dwelling in the past.
I’ve got three labs to tackle this semester! Organic chemistry (yikes) as well as Gen Bio II and Microbiology. Hopefully I can post some pictures of the cool things we do. I am loving my university. I started this blog as a clueless high school kid and now I’m an even more clueless college kid.
That’s all I have for now. So if anyone is still here, if anyone is still reading this,

I'm not in High School Anymore
Hey guys! A lot has happened since my last blog post. I'm very, very proud. For one, I graduated high school last Friday with a 4.0 GPA. I was one of the valedictorians and graduated with honors. Tomorrow I graduate from my technical school in the top five, also with honors.
I cannot believe high school is over.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the studyblr community. I started this blog right before senior year and the ability to document my progress definitely served as motivation. You all have been 100% supportive, and I love that. So thank you so much for reminding me what my goals are. The past four years of my life have been dedicated to it, and senior year would have been so much more difficult without this community.
As for the future of this blog: it will not end just because high school did. I'm going to be using this as a platform to document my college assignments, as I plan on studying Medical Laboratory Science this fall. I cannot wait for the future of my education, and I know that the studyblr community will continue to support me as I once again become a freshman. So, thank you. Sincerely. :)
