Hey I updated the list, I found two more gorgeous doodle posts by @studypetals, go check out, they are amazing!
As I study Nature Conservation Engineering, I am kind of obliged to protect my environment. Fortunately, it has never been difficult for me, as I have always respected it and tried to save it as much as I could. I want to share my easy tips on how can you protect it. Because itâs not true that one person can not change the world. If everyone believed this way, then nothing would have ever changed in history. One small step can affect others, too. If you change something (like going vegetarian), you might inspire others to do the same way. And that person might inspire others and so on⊠So here are my tips: 1. Recycle all you can! You can recycle paper, plastic, metal and glass. But before you throw these to the recycling bin (excluding paper), wash them because you shouldnât place them dirty. And let them dry, because it is not good to throw them to the bin while itâs wet. 2. Reuse. Use both sides of the paper! Donât throw everything away, just because you got bored of something. Maybe try making it new with a cool DIY. Itâs cheaper and if you like creative things, itâs really entertaining, too. 3. Reduce waste! Try to choose things with less package. I am constantly angry at companies who pack 1 pen in a plastic package. It is so so useless. Why do pen refills need plastic? I think they try to be pre-cautious, they think that in this way the product will less likely to get hurt. I get this, but I think maybe they could use paper instead. It degrades faster than plastic. But the best solution would be to use nothing. 4. When going shopping, bring a bag with you and refuse plastic bags if they offer you. Recently, France banned single use, fairly flimsy, often see-through plastic bags, that some supermarkets and grocery stores hand out at the check-out. It was a wise move, I must say. 5. When you buy veggies/fruit I know that you need plastic bags (because who wants their fruits touch a dirty shopping basket?) I use plastic bags for that, but I donât throw those away, I reuse them every time I shop for vegetables/fruit. If you buy oranges, kiwis, tangerines you donât need plastic though, because you wonât eat their skins obviously. 6. If you can, buy eco-friendly house-hold appliances. You can save energy and water with them. 7. Unplug! Switch off everything after you used them. 8. Always fix the dripping taps, you shouldnât waste water! 9. When you are washing your teeth, and you are currently not using water, then turn off the tap. You donât need water streaming when you donât even use it. Itâs so simple, yet I see that a lot, unfortunately. This applies to dishwashing, too. 10. Use energy saving lightbulbs. LED bulbs are a bit more expensive but they are worth more in the long run than the cheaper ones. 11. Insulate your home. It is one of the most efficient ways to save energy at home since it keeps it warm in the winter and cool in the summer. 12. When youâre in a room but you go to another one, switch off the light, it doesnât matter whether youâre planning to go back 30 minutes later or not. 13. Try veganism/vegetarianism. Think about it. Why do they cut off trees in the Amazon rainforest? Because they want to build new cattle-farms. To kill a lots of innocent animals. Iâm not going to have a pep-talk, because everyone can decide what to do but I really suggest looking these things up on the Internet. And I know that lots of people worry about the monotony of vegan/vegetarian foods. But itâs not true, believe me, you have so many options (especially in the USA with things like Beyond Meat and So delicious dairy free⊠Iâm so jealous!) Check out this website for example: http://www.chooseveg.com/recipes It has recipes and health tips (like what has the biggest amount of protein in it). Iâm currently a vegetarian for like a year, but I definitely will become a vegan once. (If youâre interested in why is it better to be a vegan than a vegetarian, mainly because of the cruelty. They do not kill animals for their meat, but - for example - they do take their new-born calf the moment it was born, and they kill baby male chicks just because they canât lay eggs. This is just a few of the horrible things they have to bear every day.) You donât have to give up on everything at once, do the way it suits you, for example ditch chicken first, then red meat, then fish etc. But if you want to stop eating these so badly, then do it. For example I stopped eating meat the next day after I have read about these things, but I ditched fish only a month later. It is totally up to you. But if you do it, you should be so proud of you, because you have done something amazing! 14. Buy recycled products. A few examples: - Pigna recycled exercise books - Pilot B2P recycled pens
+1: watch this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PL3E96BCB7A9962C23¶ms=OAFIAVgB&v=h8Ek3v1RBEU&mode=NORMAL Itâs super cute! If you have more tips, feel free to write a comment on this post! Have a nice weekend!
Today when I was traveling by train, this idea came to my mind. I want to share my commuting tips with you, hopefully itâs going to be helpful to someone.
So here are my tips: 1. Sit near the door if possible - in this way you can avoid crowd when you want to get off the train, bus, whatsoever. Of course if you have to book a seat, thatâs one thing you can not control.
2. During summer always carry a cardigan, because on some trains the air-conditioner makes a huge temperature drop, so you may be freezing inside, when outside people are sick of the boiling hot temperature. I heard lots of people say, they caught a cold because of the air-conditioner on the train.
3. But there are lots of trains, where there is no cooler and fortunately every window is open. Unfortunately this case is not perfect either because you will be annoyed by the cacophonous noise (for example this happened to me several times), so always keep a headphone with you. Also, itâs kinda useless to listen to music, because you will not hear anything, unless you turn the volume up to the maximum, but thatâs extremely unhealthy for your ears.
4. Also because itâs summer time, donât forget to pack water with you! Of course it depends on the length of your travel, but I suggest taking at least 0,5 liter with you. Yeah, I know you can buy water in the more modern trains but not every train has this opportunity.
5. If you travel by bus donât sit too far from the exit, because you might just miss the stop where youâre supposed to get off. It happened to me once, because I was too shy to âknock people outâ of my way. Fortunately the next stop was near but next time I was on the bus, I stood up in the earlier stop and went near the door.
6. My next tip applies to the bus, too. I think itâs obvious, but unfortunately several cases show that not everyone thinks this way. If you have a seat, and see an elderly woman/man standing, please give up that seat. They will appreciate your kindness, really.
7. The next one is obvious, too, yet I see this happening way too much. Like today, when I was on the train, people started playing music extremely loud. Itâs so annoying and frustrating, because I canât tell them not to do that, thanks to the fact that Iâm introvert and shy and Iâd rather listen to that awful music than asking them to stop. (I really hope Iâm not the only one, tell me if youâre like that, too.) To make things worse, this group of young people not only did that but they also popped a balloon. So immatureâŠ
8. If youâre traveling to a place first time ever, itâs handy to write down the stops (and the estimated time arriving to that stop) somewhere, like your mobile phone, or even a piece of paper. So in this way, you will know how much time youâve got, after what stop you need to put everything back to your bags etc. I donât know a lot about your countries, but in mine, there are loads of trains where there are no displays, so this comes really useful if youâre worried.
9. If you can, avoid peak hours! Itâs so horrible when you have to smell the armpit sweat of the person standing next to you. Experiment! Try to get up earlier, or go a bit later. How much time do you have to wait there, if you go earlier? Do you still get there in time if you go later? Would you rather travel on a crowded place, or get up a bit earlier? Personally, I would definitely go earlier. Of course there are cases where you can not do that, but if you can, reconsider it!
10. If you go far, always take your mobile phone charger, itâs better to be sure that it wonât run out of energy, isnât it?
11. You should carry a hand sanitizer with you. And use it after you get off, and before touching your property. Also, itâs better to avoid touching your face during the travel. Girls with bangs have a harder time, as they always arrange it. (Or is it just me?)
I think this is all the tips I have for now, but if I happen to have new ones, Iâm going to add them to this post. Travel safely! P. S.: rereading this, I kinda sound like a sour, grumpy person, whoâs not having any fun, but I am just really pre-cautious.
I collect stationery, you collect bags⊠So what?
A lot of people (friends, relatives) donât understand my obsession with pens, paper, highlighters, fineliners etc. they always say: donât you have enough pens, why do you need to buy that new one? And Iâm like: you have 10 bags if not more, whatâs the difference? Anyways, pens are cheaper than bags, so why not? Everyone has obsessions, everyone collects things, itâs human nature. Of course you shouldnât spend all your money on things like that, but everyone should respect others' choices.
What to do in your pomodoro breaks?
5 minutes / short break: - Get up, open the window, inhale and exhale for 4 seconds - Drink water ! - Stretch a little bit - Water your head with cold water (but not extra cold), it will refresh you - Turn on your favourite song and dance - Lay down on your bed and close your eyes (but try not to fall asleep) - Massage your head - Take down the recycling bin (I hope youâre recycling, if you donât, please consider it because itâs a really easy way of helping the environment) or the garbage But whatever you do, donât go online because if youâre like me, youâll be sucked in on the social media (tumblr is no exception! Itâs pretty easy to spend hours scrolling down on tumblr).
15 minutes / long break (itâs after 4 pomodoros): - Clean up around your room - Read a magazine - Wash your dishes (itâs especially crucial if you live in dorm. I can tell you, itâs not my favourite activity to do, but I donât want my dishes to pile up because that is gross) - Work out (there are several videos on YouTube that are only 5-15 minutes long) - Spend time with your pets (several studies show that spending time with them decrease the stress level) - Make a playlist of energetic tracks and dance, jump and sing - Go down for a little walk around your house - Talk to a friend of yours (not a message, rather a phone call) - Talk to your mom, dad, sibling(s) - If you have a great willing power, you can surf on the Internet but be sure not to spend more time than the given.
